  1. BEST '80s SOUND BITE: Blessed Sacrament

Loved the clip of 'Mickey' that Blessed Sac used in their show on Saturday night.

They'd been changing the music for that feature at every performance and the audience always appreciated the element of surprise.

But that snippet of 'Mickey' - complete with a Toni Basil inspired pom pom routine - got the Finals crowd going even more than the other musical selections that they'd used previously.

Only one word (well, two) can describe Blessed Sac's musical choice: Totally awesome...!!!

  2. As a performer in IW I personally found it disrespectful of Onyx when the won their medal they did not look excited at all and it was like they resented the fact that they came in second ...I think winning a medal no matter what place it is should be praised by the performers.... not many people can say they have one medal let alone two medals... the point of the story is that the director needs to change his ways because the way he has his guard acting is very unprofessional.

I noticed that too ... but my first impression is that they were in "character" for their show. I thought it was intense!

    Congrats Onyx!!

  3. Thank you for that bit!! Wasn't sure about that one! Really wonderful stuff.

Yep ... 1995-96 a lot of groups were using Jon Anderson songs. I thought it was an interesting choice for SCV to use music that has been used already ... But it's SCV and they made it their own! And it is working for them! Congrats SCV!

  4. I know a lot of people might not understand the top three shows ... it's just performing art ... I don't get SAC, SCV or ONYX's show .. but they are all very intriguing ... are they entertaining? did they present excellence in equipment? did they move you? was it memorable? I think this year, SCV, SAC & Onyx answer 'yes' to those questions. They are very distinct and stand out from the rest of the crowd. Are they fan-favorites? Not sure... but they will leave a lasting impression.

Onyx has some talented members who might read this post and feel disappointed and hurt to read that someone "hates" their show.

  5. Fan network package is great if you aren't going to Dayton.

I watched all the groups' finals (A - Open - World) and I had friends over each night. I hooked my computer to my flat screen and it was awesome! For world class finals I made "theme food" for the top world class groups. It was fun! I highly recommend it if you can't make it to Dayton.
