  2. Do the Cadets dare try the Maroon on Thursday night, and the Black Friday ( or vice versa), and see which scores better with everything cleaned up during the week. Then go with whichever scored better on Saturday. There's probably never been a corps in a position to be able to do this before, but we have one now.

  3. Side bar competition tonight. In honor of American Idol auditions in Philly tomorrow, tonight its DCI Divas. Troopers, Colts, Crossmen, Boston Crusaders. All in a row, all female vocalists, all very talented. Which corps wins the ticket to Hollywood for best incorporation into the show.

  4. Should be a great night. New endings, one a debut, others getting cleaned.

I have an interesting social experiment happening tonight. On one side I'll have a few friends that have become big fans of the activity in the last few years, and this will be their first time seeing a show live. And on the other my 77 year old dad. He started as a fan in the 60's in his Army Band days. He would wake me up in my young years to come down and watch the finals on PBS in the late 70's. Followed me around in the mid 80's through high School Band and my brief Drum Corps career. And we would attend Allentown together for a bunch of years. His last live show would be back in '89. Will be interesting to see his impression of it now with the amps, mic's, narration, vocals etc... He's never been that "old way was better" type of guy. So I'll be curious to hear the results.

  5. Here comes that part of the show, the pit feature. Time for the big visuals on the field. But how often does it happen, you hear something so different that you find yourself watching the percussionists instead of what's on the field. For me it was always the Vanguard Percussion Feature of '84. The Crossmen had a warmup back in '08 of the Beatles Across The Universe that was wonderful if you ever had a chance to hear it. I must say the pit break of Crown this year is becoming a favorite. Not about how many notes, just something that makes you take notice. What are some other favorite pit moments out there?
