SCV's show does not suck, and DCIMonkey I'm ashamed of you. You're an old school guy, you've been around here for decades, you know Crown's pre-show is doofy, just admit it. I'll gladly throw my own corps under the bus just to get you to admit that Crown's show is crap this year ;-)

BAC needs to clean their marching some, get more in synch with body/arm movements, and also improve each night in Indy. Going back several years, they have had more drops in scores after quarters than increases. Reaching 91/92 is possible with improved concentration of their intervals and covering. They easily have the talent and staff to do it.
Yeah BAC has been peaking before finals since..I guess 2004? 2009 or whatever when they placed 7th was a fluke, we've been a perennial 9th place group for the past 6-7 years. Very frustrating.

Absolute rubbish.
Sure. SCV's show is a complete mess, design wise. I saw it last night in West Chester. It's as if the captions all decided to just put whatever they wanted on the field with no planning or coordination at all. It was also the least entertaining and least engaging show I've seen from any corps in the last five years.
Crown's show is far better designed, far more engaging, and light years more entertaining. And yes, there's some cheese in it. But you know what? I like cheese if it's tasty.
Neither show is perfect, but to say SCV's show is "much better" is indeed absolute rubbish.
Crown lost me after that pre-show. When I turned that show on and I heard a *recording* of "We Will Rock You," I quietly whispered to myself "drum corps is now truly dead"

what a stupid post. you bring shame to your family.
He said nothing about their musical talent. he said the show is corny, which it is. the hornline is great, the drumline is very solid, and they're executing it visually. The show is just corny. conversely, SCV isn't executing their show nearly as well as Crown, but it's a much better show.
execution and enjoyment of design are not the same thing.
ding ding ding ding ding!

Yes...when I think of corny I think of double and triple tonguing, 16th note running brass lines. What are you smoking?
What does brass technique have to do with the actual music and production being put on? You literally missed the entire point of my post.
Me: Wow the overall production is corny, how do they get away with that?
You: THEY TRIPLE TONGUE AND PLAY THE FAST NOTES

I know it probably looks like I'm biased, but Boston should be beating SCV. I wasn't at the show tonight, but judging from Atlanta, Boston's show just has much more potential heading into finals week. More to clean, more to add, not to mention the show is just a lot more demanding. I'm not a fan of Boston's show from an entertainment POV, I much prefer SCV this year in that regard, but we gotta be objective here. Here's hoping they get out of the 9th place ghetto

I've never paid to see a show dead..............
Don't get snarky, bruh
-
We called them "sops" when I marched anyway, I think I have enough street cred, you old guys
-
And yet you marched in the Bb era and dare call yourself a 'sop' in your signature... Those of us who marched soprano G bugles would beg to differ with you!
Just toying with ya, buddy. Read Mike Boo's post. It's all you need to know.
I actually prefer G hornlines, thank you very much

Choose your battles son.
Come on, man. They're bad. Don't you miss the 94-03 BD unis? #### was stylin

Did I mention I hate all of the new uniforms? Madison, Boston, and BD especially

I don't understand how Crown gets away with such corny shows. White bread white bread white bread

You aren't even CLOSE to being an old fart yet. Just wait a few years and see how you feel.
I think I exited at the end of an epoch though. The drum corps I grew up watching (1999-2007) is VERY different from the stuff going on in 2011, you have to admit

I've never paid to see a drum corps show live. I watched plenty of shows from the stands when I marched, but I personally have no desire to travel, pay and then see any corps live.
-
I haven't really watched any shows since I aged out in 2007, and now that I'm watching current shows on the DCI Fan Network I'm pretty shocked by how much things have changed. It's the amps, it's not the electronics and synths, I actually like all that stuff. But the uniforms, the show designs, everything, wtf is going? It seems like every corps now does a "brooding and mysterious" preshow, and everyone is doing A LOT of dance movement as opposed to actual marching. Am I just the old fart that I despised back when I marched? Why can't we go back to the days of Summertrain Blues Mix and Frameworks :-(? I know when I was marching we were already on the path to Bando-dom, but man is the top 12 in bando territory now.

2002 absolutely, that show is what made me want to march. 2005, however, might have turned some people off. Also the corps was just MUCH cleaner and the show more well designed in 2002

These shoes are awful and this is a terrible idea

I don't understand what's wrong with using an electronic wind instrument and whatever else. They're instruments aren't they?

Phantom '08 obligatory joke
Bloo '09 -- not sure that everyone hates it, but I've seen a lot of people talking like it was some super-weak year for some reason. Closer was one of my favorite moments that year. Percussion was solid, too.
Cadets '10 -- for real. Maybe 'cause I love the source material and don't mind cheese or cute.
Crown '06 -- from what I've seen this show has a kind of strong "underground" support so it's not universally hated but it seems to be love-it/hate-it
Glassmen '09
I abhor Crown 06, especially did over the season while we competed with them. Especially that bando "jam out", but they were a good corps
Phantom 04 - Apasionada 874
BAC 06 - Cathedrals of the Mind
Crown 06 - In.Trance.it
Cadets 06 - Volume 2: Through the Looking Glass
Glassmen 01 - Imago
Crossmen 04 - UNITY
Bluecoats 05 - Caravan
Star of Indiana 93 - Music of Barber and Bartok (Medea)
Phantom 89 - New World Symphony
Madison 04 - Madisonic
Cavies 05 - My Kind of Town
Crown 07 - Triple Crown
SCV 06 - Moto Perpetuo
SCV 03 - Pathways

Phantom 07 - On Air
BD 01 - Awayday Blue
BD 00 - Methods of Madness
Cavies 03 - Spin Cycle
***Final List****
Thank you for liking BAC 06, I still think it was a terrible show and corps

For me it's gotta be Boston 2004. I'm in love with it, narration and all

How exactly do you have a system that takes "audience reaction" into account?

Nah, marching at 192 while doing multitudes of 2-4 count sets and playing funky music is pretty hard.
