  1. Sorry if this is mentioned above - did the Coats change their ending at the Buffalo show? There is reference to this in the Buffalo show forum, but I get the feeling someone is pulling everyone's leg. The word there is that the ramp jump was removed and a "double Z pull" was put in its place. Could someone knowledgeable confirm or deny this? (I love the ramp jump, that is one reason why this seems incredible to me.)

They added the "double Z pull" shortly before Atlanta, and at the end of that move, a single marching member does a ~40-yard dash for a ramp jump at the last moment of the impact.

  2. It's a shame that all of the early-to-mid season shows from 2007-2011 are no longer available... I enjoyed reliving the changes my favorite shows went through from beginning to end.

I agree with the quality of the Lynn VODs. It didn't help that my attention kept going to the two standing fans in the stands that clapped at basically every moment in the Cadets show.

  3. Thanks for rekindling my fond memories of Into The Light, you guys. I was in a difficult state emotionally during the 2010 season, and I chose one show (Into The Light) to listen to over and over again based only on APDs. Unfortunately, things didn't go too well with my life on the day I was to watch Phantom Regiment live, but the beauty and emotion from that show overwhelmed any sadness I felt. It remains my favorite and most-played DCI show on my iPod to this day.

  4. Your chat number is 12F-199312A2-0127

Huy: I have to be honest here; this webcast is the worst I have ever experienced from the Fan Network. This is really turning plenty of subscribers away from even considering the Finals webcast. Hopefully the quality steps up for the Semifinals webcast!

You are now chatting with Paul.

Paul: Hello Huy. I am so sorry for the delay.

Paul: I am sorry for the hassles, and I have been sending feedback throughout the evening from myself and customers alike. I have been informed that the stadium crew at tonight's event will not be a part of the finals broadcast.

Huy: That's great. Thank you for that information. I just wanted to make clear how absolutely no one who watched this webcast is happy.

    Paul: Understood.

    Paul: Myself included.

Huy: All right, thanks for the response.

  5. I also concur on the quality of this thread. I'm very envious of your journey! Ever since my first live show in 2009, I've made it a lifelong goal to attend at least one live show every year (that day is pretty much the most important day of the year for me, surpassing all holidays and my own birthday, which I consider to be not worth a celebration at all), and getting the chance to do a 10-day road trip of drum corps would be such an experience!

  6. Brought a old father and his son who was entering his teenage years to TOC Houston last year. The father bought the tickets as a birthday gift to the son even though they both did not have musical experience.

Let's just say I managed to help foster a love for drum corps from these two that night. They even paid in advance for San Antonio tickets to spend more time together. Unfortunately, due to family obligations the week before San Antonio, the father had to tell the son they wouldn't be able to attend, and he became really upset.

But even after that situation, I'm still amazed at how drum corps can bring a father and son closer together! The father kept on telling me how amazed the son was while watching the shows live!

  7. Having the same volume issues. It's not the sound quality that I'm worried about; I'm more worried about how I have to maximize volume by turning up the volume bar on BOTH the webcast and my computer, and I still don't get the desired volume via my earphones. It's even worse if I use speakers.

I'm sure there are those that are like, "You're not watching it live, so don't expect it to feel like a live show, so deal with it," but this situation is almost analogous to putting in a Blu-ray/DVD version of a show and only getting a moderately loud show even after cranking up all the volume settings.

  8. Apparently some on here think it is entirely up to those on the front end.

Hopefully you're not referring to me! While the Fan Network quality is still good enough for me despite my volume complaints, it'd be nice to be a little blown away when using maximum volume on both the webcast and my computer. But then again, I'm only paying for a video broadcast and not a live viewing. :/

  9. Maybe if we all start beeching about the volume now they'll get the message and boost it before the corps get started. The volume at San Antonio was NOT good.

Might actually try that right now!

EDIT: Just did it, the agent said she will give them the message. Not sure if it will be obeyed.

  10. So, after seeing the Cadets live in San Antonio, I feel like a complete idiot for this post.

In another thread I said that my favorite corps is the Blue Devils, but that I love Crown's show so much that I wouldn't mind seeing them beat blue devils this year...I can now say the same for the Cadets.

ps: I was sitting right on the 50 and on the 4th row (bottom level) and I didn't feel the towers got in the way at all.

For me, I think the Cadets' opening hit with Symphony No. 1 was my favorite moment of the day. It just takes that one live viewing to change everything! thumbup.gif

  11. Just got back from watching Phantom Regiment's rehearsal and checking out warm-ups in Houston. They changed up the drill and some of the little musical details after the Mahler 2 hit! Overall, the show is still solid for me, but I'm sure the changes are very much welcome!

I'll see if I can upload the runthrough video tonight. Unfortunately, because of the heavy rain, it was a pit-less run, and the bass line didn't join in until the Nimrod ballad.
