It seems the easiest way to invalidate an argument, as well as an opinion, is to bring up "g7." There's a reason, other than money, they are up in that echelon. Get over it.
Really, the way you've ever replied to me makes me completely disregard your opinion. Why should I get over it? Clearly you've only ever been a fan or marched one of "elite". The best thing that will happen to drum corps is when the top start to fall and the bottom start to rise.

When other corps scores improve, they deserve it. When Cavies scores go up, its impossible, a conspiracy I tell ya. LOL, sarcasm off.
.... No. This post made my blood boil.
You know why? Because when Spirit was exaclty neck and neck with cavaliers a lot of the g7 lovers couldn't help but say "it's ok... It's early season. It doesn't matter."
Why can't spirit just be good? Why is it the underdog who's scores are "wrong" and not valid... Why can't some of you admit that some of these corps are in fact more deserving of certain points. It IS a big deal when the underdog is close... Especially for the kids.
Maybe if there wasn't so many politics *cough cough* which staff is properly playing "the game" *cough cough*..... We'd start seeing some different results. Maybe certain corps (I'm not talking about spirit only) would stop taking all the blows.
But god forbid a corps beats a g7 corps...
I'm drunk.

Can't wait for spirit to close the gap on Madison!
(And perhaps pass them after the Wisconsin shows... Cough cough)
Here's hoping!!
Good lineup, fair scores!

Would you get off it already? Cheer for Spirit, not to "stick it to the man," but for their continued growth.
1371946314[/url]' post='3271283']I'm glad SOMEONE said it. Geez. It's getting old already.
Really, I can cheer as loud as I want for the activity to GROW and for the under dogs to pass perennial g7. I'm happy and oh so happy when top groups in any sport feel the heat from others. It's what makes the activity grow and become competitive...interesting.
Reality is, people like upsets and drama.
Don't get me wrong, ill enjoy a g7 show as much as the next guy and can love the work and dedication being put in from all in the organization, but as soon as one of those groups start to slip.... I'll be cheering more for the group trying to overtake their spot!
And with that, hopefully you can understand why I'm so excited at the possibility of ANY group taking over a perennial g7 group!

Go Spirit! Show those g7 we're tired of the exclusivity!!

The best thing that could happen for equity in drum corps is for some non G7 corps to populate the top 7 spots.
Fully agree. Here's hoping this continues and our friends join us in this conquest!

Good. I'm glad Spirit is right up there. Time those G-whatever corps start feeling some heat from the non-VIP groups.

Tweets I found:

Go Spirit! I have a feeling they will be a late bloomer this season as opposed to last year.
-
Because other corps are figuring it out and more entertaining.
=)

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has no idea what this thread was originally supposed to be about?

@BenNebMalounTop corps of the night for me 1. @TheBlueDevils 1.@bostoncrusaders 3. @MadisonCorps 4. @TheBlueStars 5. Spirit of Atlanta 6 @TheColts
No no no... he/she's got it all wrong!

No. I don't believe it bothers them. I also think there are more BD lovers than there are haters in the drum corps land.
Although, judging from comments made by old friends, it's all about the bling.

Performance order is done in groups of three based of off last years final placements. That is why Madison (10), Blue Stars (11), and Spirit (12) have been switching performance slots so much this year. Colts are on last because it is a home show for them.
Thanks for confirming that.
Although sometimes I wish they did it based on how far you've traveled to the show ;)
I know, high hopes.

Was this random draw for performance order?

Use things outside of the field.
Like, Have members come from the audience, or interact IN the audience!

MY OPINION: Cavaliers should be behind Scouts and Spirit. BAC should not be that far in front of Scouts and Spirit.
Bluecoats should be infront of SCV.

Hey bobjective. Lots of posters throw out words like demand and technical aspects when comparing one corps' show to another's. Can you/our peers be more specific?
After seeing the three corps you have mentioned three times live and on the fan network a few times (I know that doesn't exactly compare) here is my assessment when considering many various aspects
of show design demand for each section of the corps:
Brass book: Spirit over Scouts over Cavies (all aspects of individual and collective demand)
Battery book: Cavies over Spirit over Scouts
Drill variety and demand: Spirit/Cavies over Scouts
Guard book: Cavies over Spirit over Scouts
Pit book: Cavies over Spirit over Scouts
Some specifics:
Body: all about the same at this point
Tempos: all about the same
Movement variety(not body): all about the same
Brass orchestration devices, vocabulary, and variety of styles: Spirit way over Scouts way over Cavies
Battery orchestration devices, vocabulary, and variety of styles: Cavies over Spirit way over Scouts
Pit orchestration devices, vocabulary, and variety of styles; Cavies over Spirit way over Scouts
Demand or character role: Spirit over Cavies over Scouts
Guard variety and character roles, communication demand: Spirit over Cavies over Scouts
I could break all of this down further into use of meter, keys, varied step size and path, variety of body and movement, instrument ranges, mouthpiece on face time, melodic demands on each section, exposure/features per section,
solo exposure, small ensembles exposure, articulation demands, environmental demands and frequency there of, etc.
I just feel that we (including myself) sometimes don't or can't specifically explain our take on things like demand. I think it requires detailed analysis of the "what." Something I do a lot as a judge myself, so much so I can hardly
ever turn it off and just enjoy a performance.
I like you and your analysis.

The top corps make much more money for themselves and DCi than do the mid to lower corps.
It costs more money to be first than it does to be last.
This is where parity could play a huge role in keeping corps alive.
Professional sports have salary caps, why not drum corps?
Watch out! I mentioned salary caps earlier and a bunch of trolls -1 me!
They probably like you though, so you'll be fine

You might qualify. You're not half baked though are you ?
Hah!
Funny.
But no. Not ever =)

Definitely wouldn't place Spirit in the same "staff bucket" as Troopers, Crossmen, Colts or Cascades...
But anyways. Yes. It is hard.
