No one wants to work for a close minded toxic dictator. Gotta get rid of him first to recruit better staff members

I know this probably would never happen, but, from what I’ve read on these post from time to time, I think it would be a great idea for someone to reach out to Jim Mason with a deep, serious apology, and literally ask/beg him to come back, at least as a consultant to try to get this thing back on track competitively. Otherwise, honestly, I don’t know what they’re going to do to remain in world class if they keep dropping in placement every year. They won’t be able to retain quality members.

  2. Maybe Madison needs to take a competitive year off like SOA did and try to reset their competitive goal as and/or mindset. It appears to have worked for SOA. Someone has suggested that Madison might consider dropping down to competing in open class for a while. I honestly don’t know how that would bode well for their future in trying to come back to world class after competing in open class for a couple of years.

You want my honest answer? Director only matters for one thing and that's hiring the people to design. So here is that list of designers and position. Who are you keeping?

    Program Coordinator - Jason Robb

    Front ensemble arranger- Matt Hahn

    Brass arranger - Scott Boerma

    Battery Arranger - Ryan Ellis

    CG coordinator - Tykeem Rainey

    Electronics - Justin Shelton

    Visual Designer - Noah Bellamy

For now I would personally keep Scoot Boerma and Ryan  Ellis.

I will say that the members of today’s Madison Scouts are doing the best they can with the talent they have & the show they have been given.  I will be cheering for them on Flo.

They have the talent it’s the design vehicle that is lacking. I can only image what a good visual package could produce with that brass and drum that they are playing this year!

He is, and has been for quite a few years. But Pat is a Madison alum and spent many years on non-teaching staff. Pat has a soft spot in his heart for his corps, plus he has a knack for bringing corps up from nearly dead (Southwind and Phantom)

I marched with Pat in 1983, my first year in Madison. He definitely has a soft spot for the scouts.

That’s at best a 15th-17th place product. Madison needs to clean house starting at the top.

I need to wait and see. It’s obvious that a great deal of movement and drill has not been put on the field towards the end of that show yet. But, I do love what I heard musically!

  7. Now, that the 2022 season has ended. I am going to say something that I have held until after the season. This past season when I saw the Cadets although it was a modern type of show, before they even played a note, when you saw them, you knew who they were. You could’ve even said it about some of the other finalists such as Cavies and Troopers. Madison had a strong legacy, brand, sound/flavor and appearance when you saw them. I didn’t see that at all in the 2022 show. I heard it come thru about the last 2 minutes of the show.  One can only hope that there will be a good retention rate of performers from this year’s corps along with a higher demanding show that is creative and modern, along with more of the iconic Madison brand in it next year. It can be done because Troopers, Cadets and Cavies did it this year!
