  1. According to the DCI website, the results at Minneapolis determine performance order. For those that did not compete, and average of scores was used to determine order. So, if performance at Minneapolis determines the order for San Antonio, why are Spirit and BAC competing before Blue Stars and why are Cavies after Madison? Phantom should be after Bluecoats and Crown should be after Blue Devils.

It also doesn't make sense if you look at average scores. In DCP's rankings, Crown is ahead of BD so they should appear last, Phantom is ahead of Bluecoats, Madison is ahead of Cavies, BAC and Spirit are both ahead of Blue Stars.

Based on some of these placements, it makes no sense. Why are blue coats after phantom and cavaliers after scouts? As ironic as it seems DCI has become a joke!!! The only thing positive about the activity this year is that crown is winning and scouts, troopers and scv are doing well performance wise!!! Screw the scores you can't trust them anyway. Even Hopkons said it's a joke!!!

  2. Performance order in Minnesota has not been in Madison's favor for the last three years. They've consistently, due to prev years placement, gone on well before corps they have been besting in the current season.

I may stand to be corrected, but this year they've overcome that handicap much more than the past two. It will be interesting to see how this effects their placements going dorward as future regionals performance orders are based on tonights placements.

Are they based on tonight's placement or last year's finals placement? And I do agree that the slot that they went on in hurt them.

  3. Well at least I got to see about 3/4 of their show. Love the way the Corp proper gets onto the field with the jogging cadence! From what I saw/heard, they had a great show. There was some visual dirt in the more exposed curvalinear forms in the middle piece, so they have some cleaning to do. But the guard rocked, the brass was rich and well blended and the drums were tight! Way to go Brothers!

Yes! My brothers "Locked and Loaded" tonight!!!

  4. I've always been a spirit fan. But, in order for them to jump into the next grouping of corps they've got to beef up their visual program next year! I am not saying they need to be in constant motion like cadets, scv or scouts. But, they have to start moving and playing some difficult parts simultaneously in the near future.

  5. I suppose it's nice that people feel free to express their feelings, but this sounds a bit too touchy-feely to take very seriously. As far as the "formidable shadow" goes, some clearly very knowledgeable bloggers in the "Cavies' Struggles" thread pretty thoroughly debunked that overblown myth. I've been watching the Cavies since 1986 and this year's corps and show is just as good and Cavies-like as any other corp's team and show resemble their traditional "feel". Madison may have resumed its old habits of parking and blowing, and marching hard drill only when they aren't playing, at least not anything hard, but can you watch Scouts' guard flouncing around the field in cammo and say they look like the Scouts of old? If so, it's all in your imagination, along with the notion that Cavies don't look or sound like they used to.

Madison's hornline does not play hard licks when they just stand still anymore! Have you objectively seen their show this year? They move and play some awesome parts. Especially during the ""Afghanistan 2025" production. Trust me that argument about the scouts will no longer stand from this year going forward.

*Did not include the Div II and III corps

It's obvious that you either can't stand the Madison Scouts or you have no reasonable clue about predicting the placements this year. I actually hope it's the first rather than the latter for. Me personally being a Scout alum prefers certain styles over others. However, even if I don't like a corps' style or program, I still wish them the best and give them their just due in placement and competition. I will stop here for the sake of civil decorum. But, for you to

Predict the Scouts to fall to 19th! Really?!!!

  7. I think that whether cavaliers or scouts end up in front of the other by August. As an all make corps. brotherhood, and with me being a scout alum, I am ecstatic that both all make corps are good, solid drum corps! DCI needs both the Cavaliers and the Scouts to do well. Both of these corps are two long storied brotherhoods with deep history and tradition. We may be tough competitors on the field, but we are our brothers keepers!
