Here's another shot with the two guard units.

I took this one from 439. Pure class! This is almost identical to last year's picture of these two great corps!

As to the topic: it's simple math. They didn't drum the best, but they marched, blew, spun, and designed well enough to make up for it. Not that complicated.
Amen Nick! I suppose there is no getting around the fact that to some, the earth is off its axis when BD doesn't win. Not to all, but to "some." And within that "some," there seems to be a few who may be on the verge of hurting themselves. Sad, really.
What a ride this season was!

So happy for Crown tonight. Well deserved win, and good for DCI to have a brand new first time champion. I hope all those corps that didn't make finals look at where Crown was eleven years ago (16th place and out of finals) and realize that they can become elite as well. I'm sure it took a lot of hard work, but Crown's rise has been impressive and inspiring.
This is SO right! Well put!

I didn't get the Crown win last night either. Been a huge fan but they didn't have a good run. You mentioned the dropped sticks and the drops in the guard, but I also just felt the overall energy was flat (except the closer) and the drum line / eh / would have had them in 9th
Felt BD 1 pointed them last night - and this is coming from someone who is in no way a BD homer / I was also pulling for Cadets.
Why do people fail to mention (during their expert analysis) that even if Crown's perc had been down by a full point last night, Crown still would have won?
I also wonder how many of the "experts" on DCP were actually there last night, and how many were just watching the feed. Huge difference!

I find it really funny that some people are criticising crown fans for "gloating" and being on "a high horse." There is nothing wrong about being happy or proud of this corps' performance last night. I find it laughable that you are trying to tell me that Blue Devil's fans have never gloated/been on a high horse once in their 15 years of wins.
Both corps are great, Crown is just greater this year and the judges agreed last night. Whining about a dropped stick isn't going to change it. Just enjoy the show.
Amen to that!

How did Crown beat BD? How is that even possible? I can't believe it! I actually asked Boo in the chat session, if there was some sort of tabulation error. I can't comprehend it.
If they had a stick drop in the snare line, then surely their percussion score dropped. If that is the case, how could they have possibly made up that many points in the other captions? And how could they have gone up on BD by .625? How? It makes no sense.
I really want to see the caption from tonight, to see how this could have happened. It is a giant mystery, practically impossible.
We've really entered the twilight zone here, folks.
Please don't hurt yourself.

Not just tonight: all season long! The majority of BD fans (and especially alumni) are obviously pulling for the home team but also quick to point out how outstanding Crown is. VERY classy, and IMO BD alumni have represented their corps and themselves very well throughout this insanely competitive season
We had a pair of BD parents stop us on the street as we were walking to White Castle with our son after the show, and they were very complimentary. I thought that was very classy of them!

On FN it looked like it forced a bunch of people right up out of their seats.
You don't have to like it, but man...
In our section, it forced three people out of their seats, one of which had a BD12 jacket on. In the stadium, as a whole, the level of applause was but a fraction of that received by SCV, the Cadets, and Crown.

I don't understand how you could possibly think this is as "likable" as the other corps in the top 4.
The elderly lady sitting next to us said BD's show was like nails on a chalkboard to her. She was a hoot. Hey, don't shoot the messenger.

Go Crown Go!!!

Nothing, other than the perception folks will have...DCI's attempt to sell tickets.
Yea, that's quite true it seems.
-
Lol, a tie. Yea, that's not fishy at all, is it?
Sooo... what are you trying to say?

Meaningless my ###.
Crown has not lost percussion by 1.6 all year, that is stupid to say. Even if you count Atlanta as a gauge, then only take away 0.4.
Crown is starting to run away with Music GE, and rightfully so. I'm glad the panels are starting to recognize the significant difference between these two programs from a music effect (and flat out demand standpoint).
Amen!

If winning is that important to BD keep doing what they're doing. It's unfortunately working. I would love for Cadets or Crown to take it from them this year. But if they don't, I don't care. They'll have the fans on there side once again, which is way more important than any ring BD has won with their shows they love to do. And if Crown or Cadets wins, I guess the ring is a nice cherry on top of the butt loads of fans they have. Regardless, I'd take the fans any day.
Amen to that!

So the corps that should have been third or fourth ended up more and a point ahead tonight. DCI needs to do some introspection.
It's my opinion. Suck it up red neg!

Loved the old ending but this new one is flawless! That last chord's resonance was amazing! It rang for many seconds.
Kinda reminds me of Crown's original ending...
