  1. No linkage at all. It's the discretion of each corps whether or not its members participate in I&E. The two new productions you mentioned do not affect the rehearsal schedules of the corps. If there's any effect on the corps, it's hopefully that there will be a lot of additional exposure for the activity, and (personal thought here), maybe more money to share with all the corps to help them continue to entertain us all.

I meant more on DCI's side. I wonder If DCI wanted to back off of I&E to devote the resources to the new activities.

  2. look, I'm not YEA fan, and I am pretty certain that's no secret, but why is their age cap an issue, when you have corps with age caps of their own, that generally go the other way? Why is there no gnashing of the teeth over those corps?

I wasn't gnashing my teeth over it as much as lamenting that one thing that distinguished DCA is no age-out. Yes it's C2's right to limit age, but my original comment was that I personally hoped that any other new splinter corps that may come into DCA did not have an age limit. And I have no problem with a corps having a lower end age limit either.

  3. The KIDS aren't. They are performing music and doing drill not for control of DCI but for the fans of drum corps. That performance has nothing to do with politics. Don't buy souvies but cheer the kids. If you can't make that distinction than..... We won't get along... And your very wrong.

Maybe the KIDS should stop spending their membership fees on corps that don't have the KIDS best interest as a priority. Maybe directors will realize that their actions cause the members to be booed.

  4. If the middle of the pack corps are fiscally prudent, dependable, and get kids on the field, aren't they advancing the activity, as opposed to overextending themselves for a shot at the top and disappearing. There has to be something honorable about participating for the sake of participating. And they should not be made out to be a burden on the G7

  5. So after reading 99% of this thread, my thoughts go to these scattered points:

If the G7 truly have the best interest of Drum Corps as an activity at heart, they would have never called for getting rid of Open Class.

The TOC shows and upcoming MiM shows will draw some spectators away from DCI shows. I saw that when our HS chose to take the MB kids to a TOC show instead of a regular comp last year. For DCI to condone these shows has to hurt them somewhat, but they've allowed it to keep the peace with the G7 greed mongers. I see them as a conflict of interest that shouldn't happen.

If the G7 leave DCI in a hissy-fit, it may make them look bad enough that they may struggle to pull the crowds.

Members that decide to stay with these organizations that leave DCI should be well aware of the road ahead of them and the perceptions of these groups as being not the best ambassadors for Drum Corps.

And can someone please get Hop and his bunch away from DCA before he tries the same #### there, too?

  6. well apparently Al takes them seriously, as I said something similar and he jumped all over me

First I meant many in this thread because there were more predictions without Bush than there were with. Second, calling it silly is fine, calling it ####### stupid is a bit more harsh and what I had a problem with.

  7. Clearly, you're new to DCP.

Side bar: We should write a mandatory FAQ for new users of the DCA Forums :)

Dude, I'm a 8 year vet of Kevin Smith's Viewaskew message board. Was there so long Kevin knew me by name and face when I saw him in person. The n00b abuse and flame wars I have been through on that board makes the DCP crowd look like preschoolers.

However, I don't feel simply answering a question deserved being called ####### stupid.

  8. or many of us realize predictions in October for a finals show 11 months away is ####### stupid

Really dude? I guess that "many of us" you speak of, decided not to bother with this conversation. If this thread twists your ### so much, why bother following it. Yeah it's October and people are bored. They aren't hurting anyone. I simply was pointing out the fact that Bush was only listed on the first page a couple times and then didn't appear on anyone's lists after that. Then you decide to #### all over everyone having fun here and calling what they are doing "####### stupid". I have been following several conversations on here lately and enjoyed and respected your point of view most of the time. Now not-so-much...

  9. Is there only 10 Opens going to Championships?

Also, looking at the other posts I saw a lack of Love for Hurcs. I thought the only reason they were 4th was cuz of a very strong top 3

There will be 11, but many are counting Bush out of it, despite the awesome staff additions for 2013.

  10. Second, please note -- I am not defending rock star-like behavior by anyone. Maybe it has no place in DCA for good. But the official policy of kicking an entire corps out based upon the actions of a few members is misguided and wrong, my friends. It hurts drum corps and should be reversed.

A Corps is just that, a Corps. They are a single entity with an identity. Each and every member is charged with perpetuating and protecting that identity AND self-policing other members who do not live up to that identity or endanger the Corps in any way. If corps members did nothing to stop whatever happened, or to take actions to correct what had been done, than they also are in the wrong. If the Renegades want to be the "Evil Drum Corps" or the resident "Rock Stars" then the old addage "Live by the sword, Die by the sword" applies.

  11. finals fee's? what is that? i man i've been out for a while but are you saying the members pay a fee for finals?

Finals Fees I was speaking of are the fees to cover Busing to Ananpolis, Hotels, and Busing for the three days to and from the hotel to practice fields and the stadium, which are seperate costs to the members besides tuition.

  12. There was a post on another website asking for donations and saying that as of last Thursday Bushwackers weren't planning on going to Annapolis because they couldn't afford it. Any truth to this?

Members having trouble with Tuition and Finals fees made things a bit tight, but they're getting that straightened out now. Bush will be there.
