  1. We are planning on being a full member corps for 2015 in DCA Class A. We are based out of Paris, Tennessee, in the Northeast corner of West Tennessee. We are working on filing the necessary paperwork this weekend to become a 501©(3) nonprofit organization, then we can raise additional funds from that point. We already have an excessive amount of color guatx equipment, an equipment truck, and are waiting on a set of horns to arrive.

  2. Our first Board of Directors meeting was held last Sunday, September 15th. Due to technical problems, we did not have a smooth first meeting, but it helped to establish who everyone was and what was going on. Our next meeting is this Sunday, September 22nd. We plan to finalize our paperwork, and finish a few other topics. We *tentatively* plan to have something going for the fall of 2014. Stay Tuned! We're "On the Horizon"!

  3. I agree with OC. Maybe some basic info, like location, division, starting season, a web page? DCP is full of people who know people who know people. It's hard for me to tell my buddy "Horizon is looking for staff." and when he says "Who are they?", I can't answer him.

Sorry. We are located in Northwest Tennessee, near the Tennessee River in scenic Henry County. We are currently looking into being an all-age group, but may go junior before we compete. No, we are not yet ready for members, but we are still looking for people for the Board of Directors/Staff positions. Until we get more money, all positions will be on a volunteer/some travel compensation basis. Our website is here: http://horizondbc.webs.com and our email is horizondbc@gmail.com So any questions can be directed to me. Thanks.w00t.gif

  4. I have a custom Pearl Marching Drumline for sale. The Druma are carbon core snare drums and quints, bass drums are standard maple shells. The finish on the drums is Emerald Green Mist with chrome hardware. These drums were used by 2009 SC Vangaurd and come with carriers. I have 4 snares, 2 quints and 4 bass dru8ms. the drums are in nice condition, with one set of quints having some nics and scratches on the back of the 14 inch drum, but if you put stick bags on you can not see them.

The price is 5,000.00 plus shipping

Please email me at danp8161@yahoo.com for more info

Im interested. Email me at horizondbc@gmail.com

  5. Not to stir the proverbial pot here but you've replied to every for sale bugle ad on the forums lately and on more than one occasion stated you have enough horns. But in every thread you ask the seller to contact you even though they specify how to get in touch with them. Attention to detail is key and advice from one director to another: keep the business end of the group behind closed doors. If you need to communicate with someone regarding a transaction or proposition keep it out of the public eye. If they want to know they will request to see your books. I can pretty much guarantee nobody will. Its just a black mark on your reputation to be openly soliciting for things on a regular basis...

I `never` said I had enough horns....Ive contacted sellers, but have been in lines and have not been able to GET any horns yet. Im just trying to see who still has any....doh.gif

  6. I am looking to purchase a copy of the 1986 performance of the Boston Crusaders

I wish to show my kids the fun activity I was involved in.

Can anyone help me find this video?

    Please contact me at flagelstrife@verizon.net

    Thanks,

    Fred Weissert

I dont have the 86 video, but I have a clip of the 84 Crusaders show, and theres an 85 clip on Youtube.

  7. Good call.

The next questions you should ask yourself is, "How many 19 year old Corps Directors are out there"?

How many people in the activity know who this person is?

What experience do you have with Drum Corps, Management, Fundraising, Transportation, Food, etc?

What / who are your references?

Would I let my kids be overseen & "Directed" by a 19 year old?

Who is your staff and B.O.D.?

Why are you posting 2 different websites and neither work or provide the basic information?

The list of questions go on & on. Just don't expect answers.

Im working on a Board now....and NO, I WONT be the director, Im just getting my idea off the ground. And that website is outdated, because we're building a new one. So all Im doing is starting the project, then backing away and just being a member. And I need to clarify: We will not officially declare an affiliatiin until after we see what we have to work with.

  11. Good luck to you!

We have not been able to pull members from TN simply due to the distance we are from NC's western border (which is well more than a 4 hour drive). I have always been hopeful that someone would start up a Corps in TN.

I just heard that a Carolina Gold/VK alum is working to get a DCA Corps started in New Orleans. Everything is very preliminary on that front, but it is VERY nice to see DCA expand in the Southeast. Our Board is certainly committed to a long-term approach to foster and encourage growth of the marching arts in the Southeast. We have some big plans for the future in order to help make that a reality in NC and I expect you will be hearing more from our organization on that front in the years to come.

Admittedly, it has been somewhat of a challenge with the average southern citizen understanding what we do -especially since the activity does not have the historic roots in the southeast with churches and veterans associations (VFW, etc) unlike those organizations in the northeastern part of the US. Just know that the best way to approach that is to try to get your Corps' name out to the local media as often as you can. I have noticed that marching arts groups tend to forget to promote themselves to the "everyman" and instead internalize their attention. Failure to "toot your own horn" locally does your Corps and the activity a disservice. So, dont forget to do that! :)

    Best of luck!

Thanks! I know Music City Legend IS trying to rebuild.....but I wanna build a TRUE drum corps, circa something between 1975-1982. No amps, no flashy props, no extreme guard unis, just drum corps the way it WAS......G horns included! thumbup.gif

  12. Hi.

I have 2 3v Dynasty baritones in chrome and 1 3v dynasty dynabone in chrome.

I also have a silverplate Kanstul baritone and a Kanstul silverplate mellophone both 3v.

Two questions: Is.the Kanstul mello a 3V G horn? And how much is the mello?
