  1. For the younger/single people on here, does anyone else just feel that after marching drum corps, the only person you could ever see yourself dating is someone who has marched? It sounds a little dumb that I would feel so selective, but at the same time I feel like I wouldn't want anyone who doesn't understand something that is one of the things that has made the largest impact on my life.

Bump.... am I the only one like this?

  3. Hmm.... I like the idea of there being a tie between Crown and BD.

If that happens they should have them battle it out for who wins by having them both perform their shows simultaneously. I would put my money on BD in that though since Crown would probably run into all of BD's poles all over the place.

    In reality though:

    1. 98.6 Blue Devils

    2. 98.5 Carolina Crown

    3. 97.1 Cadets

    4. 96.9 Santa Clara Vanguard

    5. 94.9 Bluecoats

    6. 94.5 Phantom Regiment

    7. 91.6 Boston Crusaders

    8. 91.0 Cavaliers

    9. 90.1 Madison Scouts

    10. 88.6 Blue Knights

    11. 87.4 Blue Stars

    12. 87.0 Spirit of Atlanta

And to make it more interesting, I say BD wins prelims, Crown wins semis, and this^ happens at finals.

  4. Although the use of performance enhancing drugs is very unlikely in an activity such as this, I do believe something that nobody has brought up yet, blood doping, would be something that actually could have an impact on drum corps. This sort of performance enhancer increases one's aerobic ability and endurance, which we all know is a large part of the drum corps activity. As much as corps already push themselves to the limits at rehearsals physically, imagine if they were able to push themselves further and be able to work a little harder. Although this wouldn't necessarily have an impact on musical ability, it could create even more productive rehearsals and performers with even more endurance, creating shows that would have the possibility to be even more demanding and cleaner in the end due to rehearsal productivity.

That being said, I don't think this will ever be an issue. It would almost seem silly to go to an extreme like that.

  5. You've missed what I was implying ENTIRELY. Regardless of whether their record ends up reflecting it, ND fans or Bama fans or OU fans all come into the season EXPECTING their team to be a top 10 team. That's what they expect.

Okay then, it makes sense if what you were implying related to expectations. The conversation, however, was about right now, and being "rightfully top 5". Your post was just misleading, as it wasn't really discussing the topic at hand. I understand what you're saying though

  6. Cut and dry as to where you're ranked??? Ok, man. lol rolleyes.gif/>

You obviously don't know college football very well then... Notre Dame has lost 3+ games for all of the years you are talking about, which gives them absolutely no right to claim being in the top 10. I doubt any of their fans thought they were a top ten team when they had seasons like that. Once again, this analogy makes no real point.

  7. Now put your feet in a Notre Dame fan's shoes (of which I am not) and tell me the same thing. You think their fans didn't feel that their team should always be a top 10 ranked team?

No, because football is pretty cut and dry as to where you're ranked. Your analogy isn't really relevant.... As I stated earlier, being a blue blood program is not a synonym for being "rightfully top 5" its as simple as that.

  8. To deny that the Scouts are a DCI "blue blood" program is naive. They may have had a rough decade or so, but that doesn't change the fact that they are one of the blue bloods. Notre Dame was really good this last season for the first time in quite a few years...would anyone deny that they are a blue blood college football program? Same scenario here.

I appreciate your college football reference, but it really has nothing to do with the topic at hand. No one denies the fact that the Madison Scouts are a "blue blood" program. The fact is that being one of the blue bloods does not mean you are "rightfully top 5".

  9. it may have been a bit sharp, but never was one to sit back and let foul play rule the day. Back to bandy? LOL Never been part of it.

Also remember, we have every right to free speech here so long as we refrain from vulgarity and/or defamation. Just callin' it like I see it.

Im here to stay, so if you don't like my opinions, don't read 'em!

I would call your opinions more of conspiracy theories though, which are a little different than just stating a simple opinion.

  10. Thank you a million times for saying just what I have been thinking here for years! Madison get "screwed" somehow on each such drawing, isn't that mysterious?

No not really. the massively incompetent, and hugely biased judging of A Lo and Chapinski have been the detriment of Madison Scouts for years, but now more so

in their renaissance to glory days. Seems like Chapinski never got over the Scouts declining that application for a staff position. It will take a miracle for Madison to

be recognized again as a rightful top 5 drum corp. Keep up the great work Madison, and may you never walk alone, especially in the judges box.

Please stop calling Madison a "rightful top 5 drum corps". They have an amazing show, yes, but to say they are already deservedly ahead of the two in front of them? That is a bit naive.

  11. It appears that DCI has once again found a way to grossly mistreat the Madison Scouts, and conveniently set them up

for a 7th place finish. The entire industry knows better than this, and knows they are in FACT the nominated 5th place

ranking in DCI at present. Another special thanks to the steadfast incompetence of judges like A Lo, and Chapinski who

find their greatest joy in demoting the Scouts at every opportunity. We're on to you both among others who make it

their mission to create ever greater inequity for the Madison Scouts, both now and historically. When Chapinski was

rejected from a much desired staff position with Madison Scouts, this scorned enthusiast became their nemesis. We

are not fooled by your obfuscations, nor are we influenced by your self appointed pedigree. Please go back to bandy

land where you both came from, and please.. don't write.

Why do you believe they deserve to be in 5th. You're saying that without a doubt that they are better than Bluecoats and Phantom this year?

  12. Feel free to dismiss this as just my opinion, but I've been in the activity for a little while now and was just curious of something that I've noticed. While browsing this forum, it seems as though much of what the Bluecoats do goes almost unnoticed, if that is the appropriate word to use for it. Just going through a show thread and seeing the discussion of each corps and their show, especially in the top 8 or so, there seems to always be much less discussion when the Bluecoats go on. I don't know if it is something they do that people just don't seem to care for, or if their fan base isn't as well-represented on here, but it is something I've seen. On a similar topic, when it comes to scoring, the Bluecoats have topped Phantom at two shows this year, yet very few, if any, seem to talk about them being able to rise up to that again, and even more I see actually predict Bluecoats falling in the rankings to Madison, a corps that Bluecoats have not lost to head-to-head since 2005. Just my two cents.
