Hi everyone! This is a great topic. I was a member of the 2007 Westminster Chorus, a barbershop chorus from SoCal. That year, Westminster's uptune was Strike Up the Band. When I joined the group, they asked me to write some "drill" for the chorus to march to because of my marching background. Let's just say that marching backwards up risers while singing is hard...but we did it...and we won!!
Log onto YouTube and search: Westminster Chorus, 2007, Strike Up the Band.
Oh, and the arranger, Aaron Dale, marched Star of Indiana, years...I forget!
Thanks Boo!

BTW, TOTALLY off subject, Disney just released the first trailer for TRON 2! OMG! CLICK HERE!!!

The onl;y thing that can top that would be if Troopers make it to finals. The place will go nuts.
OMG! Wouldn't be crazy if Troop made finals!
-
Thanks, again...but I recall seeing you in Blast, I believe??? In Lubbock.
YES!!! What a day! It was such a pleasure to perform for you guys! And Goldberg was there too!
-
Yeah....thanks! We think so, too. Her age-out year.
I was her mello instructor in 2006! So proud of her! She has done some incredible stuff!

KK just called. Said tonight was the best show they have had to date. Said they all had a blast performing it. They don't have scores yet. Go HNC!
KK!!! HOORAY! She was the #### when she was at Xmen! She was the #### when she was in Odyessy! And she's the #### now! Good on her!

by the way, where are we in the show?

Company front reforms. Corps takes off on the psych Z pull .... Contra's play the low note and turn back field. I'm standing on the 40 in the upper deck and scream at the top of my lungs, "YOU'RE AWESOME GARFIELLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD". Jingle bells fire up ... crowd reacts ... mayhem ensues.
I was 16 and it was the most Godly thing I had ever witnessed. That was then .... today I just cry.
That was a goosebump moment!

So what's the question? Was it awesome? YES! Was it groundbreaking? YES! Was it a masterpiece? YES
Anything specific you want to know?
Did the show make you cry?
(Or throw babies?)

Other corps are starting to click. HNC and SCV are amazing.
Soo true! I saw SCV EARLY on the west coast and my friend sitting beside me whispers in my ear before the big push at the end of the show, " This is going to be EPIC!" And God ####! It was amazing!

So what do we think the reason is Crown is losing momentum?!?

Anyone see 1987 live?
Only on video...but my good friend, Marc Whitlock (Director of Plymouth Canton Ed. Park HS) was a former instructor of mine at Cadets and Blast! and he marched Contra that year. In fact, if you watch the company front portion at the end of the show, he is the Contra player that goes from the 20 on side 1 to the 20 on side 2! EPIC!
-
It is a great classic design which allows the performers to shine....go HNC!
True! It's classic, but it's still the Cadets style! The end of the ballad is one of the best I have ever seen! The fast drill, epic music, colorguard spinning...I love it!
FHNSAB!!!

Sounds like this might have been the show where HNC finally really clicked. Hopefully the judges agree
God, I hope so! This is perhaps the finest show HNC have put on since 1987.

Go Holy Name! Lets close that gap with BD!

#### I hate spoiling the party on these things... but for more reasons than I have time to write, it won't happen. The biggest reason being copyright issues regarding the music the corps are performing. I'm almost positive that when the corps and DCI lobby the rights owners to perform their music, the only internet permission they are given (in most circumstances) is for DCI.org.
Let's take a closer look at this...
Hulu is a social media site that allows users to not only watch their favorite video's/tv shows, but it also allows people to "share" these video's with others through the various social networking platforms. The very fact that video is shared means that Hulu has no control where the video will end up, meaning each piece of music will need to be cleared for the entire web.
With the internet taking over as the number distribution outlet for music, Record and Publishing companies needed to find a new way to recover the money lost from album sales, so they began boosting the price of right's fee's. In limiting access to DCI's website and their own, the corps have kept the licensing fees to a minimum. If they were to go back and try to renegotiate for blanket internet use, the fee'd would go through the roof.
Where is the financial benefit?
Why do you think video gets taken off YouTube so often?
Bottom line is, it won't happen, and doesn't need to happen. Stop being a cheap ### and pony up the $39 like the rest of us.
Oh , but I did. In fact, I ponied up to the premium rate. It would be great to see the historical shows on HULU.
You have a very nice drum corps.

Evening everyone! Where are we in the show?
-
DCI would have to contact Hulu with "certain" material to air. Hulu would have to pay for the rights to air and recoup their cost through advertising dollars. Maybe Aerobed could foot the bill :P
Yeah, perhaps between all the corporate sponsors of DCI they could make this happen.
And dare I say it, perhaps BOA and WGI could jump on board?!?!?! (Ducks and covers)
-
How do we do this?
how do we make this happen!
And it cannot effect the FN!
Hmmmm...ponder!
-
Think about it.
Just think about it.
Oh yeah, that's the good stuff!
-
Isn't it a little late for scores out there?
-
Watched San Antonio on the Fan Network.
Way to Go Troopers!
Crown's ballad is gorgeous!!!
The hit at the end of SCV is ridonkulous!
Holy Name....it's good to see them running again. SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
Cavaliers, I just don't know how they are beating Cadets
BD...musical ADD. I love the show, (my friend is aging out there this year) but I just don't know if it has the horses.
BUT...everyone is good! I can't believe how good everyone is for this time of the year!
Can't wait!
Yamaha Tenor and Bass Drum Stands NEEDED!
in DCP Marketplace
Posted
I am on a search for 5 Bass Drum Stands and 3 Tenor Stands for a Jr. High Indoor Drumline. We just got some "new" drums and we don't want to kill their backs. The stands have to be at least in decent working order. I don't need the new Airlift ones, just basic stand to hold these great drums.
If you know of someone, or a place that's selling them, pass it my way!
Thanks so much!
