woah...i saw the Viper on a youtube vid of the show...but, i REALLY REALLY REALLY hope the yell isn't covering up the awesome bass solo in the spot i think u are talking about....that'd be awful to cover up an SCV bass solo w/ a yell

I agree the Cavies are putting an incredible/clean drill out there. But......the arrangement is just "blah". I really have no interest in listening to the show again. It was that boring. I could watch the Cavies on MUTE for the rest of the year FWIW, and be happy :)
sounds like pretty much every cavies show from the last 10-15 yrs

i had two different shows where i had a head break at the end of the opener (i marched bass every year i marched)...one was in 2004 grand omega ultra super fantastic redundant finals (or w/e it was called) for Div 2/3...the other was a show in Oregon in 2007..

this thread is full of win
"Ode" should be in there too

 :worthy:
can't wait to show my parents to see what they think. they already LOVED the orchestral percussion one
-
That shouldn't be very hard.
good. someone else got my joke
-
that was HILARIOUS
and, also partially explains why i'm switching to music composition as my major. lol

i've heard that their goal is to get more standing O's than BD did at finals last year...

as some have said, most ppl react w/ wanting to leave or sleep...but, the ones i've had success w/ have been w/ SCV and Phantom shows. like, SCV 04...

here's the story:

i marched 5 years in the bassline, plus 3 in HS and a year on tenors in HS...i definitely have back pain from it. marched a 32" Pearl that was used by 1992 SCV in my sophomore year of high school...
my first year in Fever, we had XL harnesses, and the way the shoulder part rested, it forced my shoulder blades back and down out of place...caused bruising for the first year or so after...
in high school, i did bass 5 twice, then 3rd/4th basses, then tenors. in drum corps, i marched bass 5,4,3,4,4

sounds great to me!

Nice work, that was beautiful. Did you listen to the Dale Warland singers version i posted?
yes, i did a couple years ago when my chapter of Phi Mu Alpha was preparing to sing it....as u may have guessed, that link i posted was NOT something i was a part of. lol...that's just the same arrangement i sang. lol
-
i've done the male choir arrangement of it...
and i'd LOVE to hear SCV or Phantom do it
-
i'm staying...i think the string of changes will flow back towards a more "fan friendly" area...i think DCI is making a GREAT step in the right direction w/ their proposed changes for finals, etc for next year, and am very jealous that they were not in place when i marched... am i fan of everything going on these days? no. but that's ok. i don't have to be to love this activity and continue loving it for years to come... long live drum corps, DCI, and, especially, open class

A day late,
ALL HAIL!
still one of my favorite memories from my ageout season, meeting up with Sinfonians from various corps around DCI on finals night under the stands in Orlando to sing and just generally enjoy the end of the season. Would love to hear that this is a tradition that has continued.
if it hasn't, it NEEDS to!!!!!!!

ALL HAIL!!!!!!!!
112 years of advancing music in America and still going strong!!!!!

I'd stipulate that as well. To be honest, compromise =
Maybe DCI corps get more money/exposure, DCI has more events that could attract more fans, and the Top 8 get some extra income. And of course, drum corps fans have more chances to see the top corps in the activity. Win-win for all, IMO
EXACTLY! this proposal seems AWESOME to me

I like the fact that everyone can compete again against each other. . .excellent news. Gonna be interesting to see where top Open groups finish.
i can bet that at least the top 3 open class groups will make semis, would SWEET to see one or two make it to finals
-
that. sounds. AWESOME!

who was that REALLY awful guy on American Idol a few years ago? something Hong or something like that?.... he can play the "yowza, yowza, yowza" guy from BD 05....
and, Mel Gibson as Spartacus
Did you march your age out?
in DCI World Class Corps Discussions

No, i didn't
i marched every year Fever was active (2003-07).... i wasn't planning on marching in 08 for financial reasons, and then Fever ended up folding around memorial camp....i DID try out for SCV for 09, but the only open bass was 5th, and my back and knees could no longer handle a 32...plus, i didn't have the money to march anyway
would it have been awesome and wonderful to age out in anywhere? sure...but, i TOTALLY lacked the money to do so, and the only two corps i wanted to do it w/ were Fever and SCV
