  1. i think it's awesome that you wanna march bass. you definetely should get a pad or just use a pillow(depending on which bass you wanna play). Sticks are a definite must. Get Delucia's!!!!!!!!!!! and tape them!!!!!!!!!!!! If they do not wok your chops, then nothing will. Definetely work on progressing from 8th notes (ones), to 16ths (twos), to sextuplet partials (threes), to 32nd's (fours). It does take a lot of time and dedication, but trust me it's worth it. (Also, you get nice looking forearms  :) ) But, yea, just keep working on it. Do a div. 2/3 corps or a senior corps. Also, you should do some independent line for winter percussion. Have fun and keep practicing!!!!!

  2. Only World class drumline don't have an age limit... at least that's how it is in Winterguard... i'd assume its the same for drumline.

actually, at least from what i know, for winter percussion the age limit is 21/22. i "know" this 'cause, last year in Dayton, Aimache (or something like that) from Japan didn't have an age limit and WGI had a whole thing set up where, if Aimache made finals, every Indepentend World group made finals, and, if Aimache got a bronze medal, the "4th place" group would also get the bronze and the same would happen with the other medals.

  3. I wish the West Coast had open winter percussion lines. The lines out here in California are with the JR high and high schools only.

I hope you guys post how your winter season goes and what you will be playing.

RCC, Black Knights, Freelancers, Fever, and possibly Esperanza....All California, all independant lines.

i think Yamato's having one too

Fever will have a independent line this year. from what i've heard there are lots of SCV and SCVC people (along w/ Fever people) interested. sadly, it will compete in PIA this year but the goal is to win and then move up. i have no idea when auditions are, but i'll post it when i know unless some one else does first.

  5. I think SCV has a better percussion section that any of the other mentioned. as much as BD's solo's AKA their book (nothing against Scot Johnson) is beefy and clean, SCV's is MUCH more impressive and clean. The last time i saw them (July 1st, Kalideskope Klassic, Modesto, CA) was the most impressive performance i've ever seen, and it STILL wasn't their best run they have in them. i realize i may have a slight bias (GO BRIAN AND JULLIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but they still are amazingly impressive. i mean c'mon, look at those 3 long snare rolls @ the end of the closer that they nail perfectly almost every time and even when they don't they still sound fantastic. and don't get me started on their warmups( their new doubles exercise, cheesy poofs, flammus, stick control, martian mambo, electric wheelchair, etc.) b**bs

don't get me wrong BD is still very good and clean and good and clean and did i mention good. sweet solo's to start off (including a very cool/jazzy bass solo  ). i also really love their amazing exercize book: 8/7,FAH,thier doubles execize, their spree (WHOOO tenors and basses!!!!!!!!!!!! b**bs ), Diddy,Felshtuplet, etc.

Phantom is also really good. i just think their hornline is better. (SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET cadence by the way)

Here's how i think (not hope) it'll line up @ the end:

    Best Guard+Overall: BD

    Best Horns+Marching: Phantom

    Best Percussion+GE overall: SCV

  6. i think that Wheelchair and Martian Mambo (SCV's 60) are both very exciting and challenging pieces and seem to do a very good job of keeping the hands warm. however, i have also fallen in "love" w/ Diddy and Fleshtuplet (BD's cadence) and also Phantom's cadence who's name i am not aware of. as for bass cadences, who else fell in love with Vanguard's bass cadence?? b**bs b**bs

    Go Jullian!!!!!!!!!!!
