  1. I don't think the Cavaliers will resort to going backwards, if anything this year proved how much they have to go forward. Propaganda felt like the superior second act to Secret Society 2013....it was everything Secret Society should've been. Now they have to continue not only coming up with great concepts, but also delivering. Anyone can have a great idea for a show, or even a bad idea for a show, but an idea doesn't make or brake a show...the performance does. This staff hit a home run this year, let's just hope it wasn't a one hit wonder

  2. I don't know anything about winning but I see Blue Knights or Blue Stars with best chance to attain a top 5 spot in the future.

well, it's hard to imagine anyone out of the top 6 winning in the next five years..., but I mean if there ever will be another first time champion and it could take 10 to 20 years, I would put my money on Boston, Blue Knights, and Crossmen.

  3. All in all, another great year of Drum Corps International, taking our minds away from the real world if only for a little while...Loved a lot of the shows this year! From a competitive perspective, really hard fought all the way till the end..I can't wait until next year, I have a feeling the shows next season are going to be the best shows we have ever seen.

  4. I guess I'm the only person in the world this year that hardly noticed Bluecoats electronics this year. I saw them live and was only 7 rows up next to the 50 and the electronics were something that I never even noticed. Maybe my attention was drawn elsewhere or they were so well integrated I couldn't tell they were there, but the only time I actually could really hear something was the rewind section.

I saw them live as well, I didn't notice their electronics at all when they performed. I do think there should be limitations, but the question "how much is too much?" I guess we will find out when we get there. I think the most electronic show this year was the cavaliers and it received positive reactions every where. A few years ago Carolina Crown "Out of this world" had to perform without their electronics though because it rained heavily before the show and you could tell their show relied heavily on it.
  5. I hope not, I like shows with a story, but I mean of course their victory is going to change the state of DCI. The caption awards proved that GE is what you want to attack. Crown had the best "marching show" but they lost because Bloo's GE was through the roof, I think we will see more shows that use props, body, and electronics..but hopefully we never have to see another drum corps in a jump suit lol I can't wait to see the Bluecoats actually wearing coats again next year, one of my favorite uniforms.

  6. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Absolutely phenomenal. I'm so proud of the cavaliers, I was hoping for them to re-enter the top 5 this year and to my amazement the accomplished that goal. I was grinning ear to ear when I heard the cadets name called in 6th, although I love the cadets as well but the cavies are my absolute favorite drum corps of all time and to see them making strides back towards the top. Who knows? Next year we could be talking about a shiny medal 😄

  7. No! I agree the Bluecoats will likely win, but don't even start with the "They are head and shoulders above everyone else" BS. There is a reason the top three have been close all year because it's just that..they are CLOSE. This is the reason I have hated the Bluecoats all year, their show is honestly boring, repetitive, and simple. They perform at a very high level, they are undoubtedly in the top 2 this year but don't act like there is a 4 point gap between them and second.

  8. I was going to say Cadets, Cavaliers, and Santa Clara Vanguard. I know the talk of the town has been the top 3 (I'm rooting for Crown!) but I'm almost more intrigued with the battle for fourth, and honestly I've heard the cadets wanted to wait for this time right now so George might pull a rabbit out of his hat and sneak into the top 3 (although very unlikely) I think if I had to just choose one it would be the Cavaliers, I know I'm a little bias, but this is the first year since 2011 they have even been considered for the top 5. They need to get into the top 5 so they can reestablish themselves among the top 5 drum corps...I just hope that SCV is in 6th and not The Cadets....I live my life by one DCI rule. The Three C's! Crown! Cavies! Cadets!

  9. As are all the other corps. If the design is not up to snuff or other corps are cleaning at a more efficient pace than another, that's on them.

I hate this everyone gets a medal attitude. Finals loses its value if we start letting in everyone. This is a competition, not making finals is tough, but that's how competitions work. Either way, I doubt the sole reason people march is to get to finals. Just because you don't make it to Saturday night does not mean the whole season is minimized or worthless.

Couldn't agree more! I never marched in DCI, but I went to grand nationals with my high school band twice, we were nothing too fancy but we were good enough to make semi finals and I remember how bad it stung whenever we weren't in the top 35, It hurts a lot to not be where you want to be, but if they would've just handed us a place in semi's, it wouldn't hold the same value as it does...I know it's not a great comparison, but it's what I think of at least lol

It would be like if in College Football they expanded the playoffs and allowed 8-10 teams the opportunity to play for the national championship instead of the top 4
