That's not metal!!!! Those are Rhinestones, hence why it says Bling on the pic!!
Well. Either way, it's the chest strip thingy.

As seen on bloo's snapchat. New part of uniform?
It's just the little metal strip thing they've had on their chest for the past however many years
Is there an actual word for that thing?

I would like to know more about what are the typical characteristics of a high school band uniform vs. a drum corps uniform.
High school - the particular poster doesn't like it
Everything else is a real drum corps uniform though

As long as we are talking about all the corps' necklaces - what is the etiquette regarding wearing of necklaces when you move from one corps to another? Do members wear them both, proud of all their corps? Or do they ditch the prior corps necklace to not offend the new corps?
Just curious what is usually done.
I'm pretty sure most people wear both/add to their current necklace... I don't think that it's looked down on like wearing another corps apparel would be.

Has anyone known someone with mental issues to do DCI/WGi/DCA?
The ones who march euph

Crossmen - I had friends who marched there, I enjoy almost all of their shows, and I just like the attitude/appearance that they always have. They just seem to have this aura of ###### that to me defines drum corps
Music City - They had open spots, show music, enjoyable shows in general, and the staff and members are all really cool/friendly people -
So much effort put into making a video... this organization is really going downhill

yeah and i think the academy uses kanstul too, at least their contras are kanstul 5:4s. what do you play?
Academy actually switched to Jupiter a few years back. They used to use TAMA. I use a Yamaha baritone at school, a Dynasty euph when I don't have that, and I'll be playing a Jupiter euph this Summer with Music City

is there a corps that uses kanstul/TAMA instruments though?
Well Genesis has used Tama percussion for a while, and they just recently signed a deal with them to get a whole new line of Tama horns, and Spirit is getting outfitted with new Kanstul horns for next season. I think that's it. But no matter where you go, they will give you a corps horn when you get contracted, even if you have the same make/model of horn. That way if something happens to the horn, it's their instrument, and they can deal with it easily. Plus, you don't really want to subject your personal instrument to a full season of corps... this will be my first season, but I've seen/heard some things... it's just not a good idea lol

So if they aren't applying for membership until next year, what are those kids at the camps going to do this year?
They're part of Soundsport I believe? So the kids that make it will march Soundsport this summer.

Whatever; that same study was done MUCH better in the 80's (or insert older era of obvious superior quality here)
Back when we didn't have fancy electronic surveys

do you know what horns the cavies use?
Cavies are using Yamaha brass and percussion
So they would give you a YMP-204M

thanks, you're the one person to answer my actual question
Welcome to DCP :P Where everything you say will either be over-analyzed or taken the wrong way

You can audition on it. It doesn't matter what brand you use, if it's an F mello, you can use it for auditions. If you get contracted, they will give you a corps horn, and you will march with that from then until the end of the season. That's how pretty much every corps that I know of works.

You show up unprepared, you get cut. That's it. Doesn't matter who you are. It's not about loyalty.

Crossmen are standing in third (not regiment third, so with their left foot behind right) this year then doing a funny do-si-do step to take the first step. HA, good luck with that. It is funny when people spend (waste?) time doing things other than actually getting better at marching and playing. The time devotion to make that work won't pay off in excellence.
Basically, interesting decisions being made there already this season.
I went to one of the camps and learned the technique... the first step isn't awkward at all unless you make it by doing something crazy. The only thing that is funky is coming back to third from a backwards march. I don't know why the decision to switch to third was made, but really, it's not that bad.

They were .1 from finals....
I understand everything else that you've written, BUT they were almost in FINALS; hardly a far cry... Almost as close as you can be without not being in...
Technically 1.1 without the 1 point penalty on Crossmen

Field artillery in the key of B-flat.
It's coming soon.
But G artillery is much louder and better!

In their 2008 Samurai show, Cavaliers used a hammered dulcimer in the pit. It appears to be fully acoustic. I am not sure why this made it past the rules committee, but I am glad it did, as it adds a great sound to the show.
Well I mean Spartans had an acoustic guitar this year... I think people are confused about the rule

I wouldn't count them out just yet. Remember they moved from 16th in 2010 to 12th in 2011. Up from 17th is do-able.
And Bones went 17-12 from 2011-2012. It's possible with the right show.

And that is the only lyrics the Bluecoats used in their fantastic version. But most of the time you could barely hear the sample voice singing that because of the applause lasting through that moment...
The voice is actually just a generic "ah" sound

New drapes
MURICA!!!

I thought they were the drum majors maybe? I don't know

And not Phantom? I thought their arrangements of the Tchaikovsky music was pretty good..and I believe it's all from one source...Swan Lake....right?
Nope. There's something from King Kong, a Dracula ballet, and some other piece I don't remember.

Just looking at the pictures... I REALLY like the DM uniform. I'm just going to reserve judgement on the rest of it until I actually see it in person.
