What result(s) were you expecting? Where do you think the judges failed?
I already said, slotting placement is not only not representative of reality it is the major reason people don’t trust the judging. I hear it all the time. Especially in the stands.

I give up on DCI scoring method. It is just plain unjust. Slotting only hurts those under the top two or three. It is a farce. Give them the scores you have on the scoring cards and be happy with what you did as a scorer. Rediculous.
And I realize the corps approved the method. that makes it even worse, in my humble opinion.

Going to be rough and tough, but that show is deserving of consideration.
Yep, I predicted it before the season started.

Do not sleep on the Cavies brass line. Kevin LeBouf is doing great work there and it shows.
you have that right!

Cavies are going to take 3rd place . I can feel it happening. Their score in Chester was 92.7 which did not get posted because the event was cancelled after they performed. But is puts them and Boston ties. They are very much within striking distance of Crown and SCV. This is the year they can do it!

HONESTLY? I hope they get a new arranger. The "arranger by waring blender" of the last couple seasons has gotten very old, very quick
Think of 1992 Cavaliers. Music! With a beginning, a middle and an end. In 2019 I'm hoping fewer songs
2018 arranging is brilliant. And The choice of Road to Perdition for the ballad and voice overs is the best on the field this year.

I think it's because they can afford to.
i think to make everything equal, they should all be required to perform a certain number of times. And they all should be required to perform the same number of times. Take money out of it and make all things equal.

They jumped one, now they are on the tail of another. .And it is even possible they could jump even a third for a medal. Go Cavies. I can feel a history making event about to happen in DCI.

Yep as much as I hate to admit it, BD has been weak relative to the the rest of the top 4 in brass this year. Below their usual standards. They still have the best screamers in the business though
I invite all to see who really is in the top 4 brass. It is not BD, BCoats, SCV and Crown every night.

Im not sure about cavies in that pack.... I think Boston and Crown are in their own 2some
Just wait. You haven't seen anything yet. Keep an eye on caption scores this weekend. You will see why I don't think crown can keep up on Brass alone. Mainly because they don't even have the best brass. Just loud brass. If Crown makes some big changes to make the show more exciting and show what their brass can do except blast, then they will pull away. Otherwise, nada.

I predict Blue Devils will go into Allentown leading the pack. I also predict both Boston and Cavies will go into Allentown ahead of Crown.

Cavies are one cohesive design away from winning a championship. Great story telling, they just need the right story to go all the way.
That is exactly right.

Ladies and Gentlemen you just saw the judges do what they always do and spread them out into positions based on what they think the spread should be at this point in the season. It always makes me lose faith in the judging.

i believe there will be major movement in the score positions tonight. Mostly scrambling the preseason predictions of placement in 1-3 and 4-6.
-
Visual needs to be given less points in the scoring, it is not twice as important as everything else.

Whether one likes it or not, everything is political in some way or fashion. No way around it, under it or over it.
This move by the Scouts is disappointing for some and encouraging for others. However, none of that really matters. What really matters is how it not only affects the Scouts but how it affects DCI. From my point of view as a fan it could go either way. However, I would bet my money on that is will not be good for either in the long run.

Maybe I need a little perspective. Everyone is ranting and raving about how good this show is and how amazing the brass sounds. Yet they are scoring in a solid 6th place. What gives?
What gives is you are a troll. Nothing more!

This show is phenomenal. And it has many places to add and modify. I am going to predict the Cavies taking at worst 5tlh place. They are going to outscore Blue Devils and Boston.

True. Guess I was excluding travel/random shows en route...
They have a lot to fix in the back 1/3. Wainwright doesn't sound like Cavies. Or drum corps for that matter. It's not working. Cadets might leap over them.
nope won't happen

This is my favorite Cavaliers show since Mad World. Just wanted to throw that out there.
Just as a few others are saying the top 6 are all incredibly strong this year...and the Cavies are getting better but so is BAC.
The only corps that looks to me like a slide from last year is Madison. Placement might not say so but just about every corps is just as good or better than last year.
Absolutely agree

This was my thought when I saw the thread title.
This is DCI World Class competition folks. Not some small off-beat circuit where there are only 6 corps competing and the Cavaliers are 6th with a bad show. Go ask Phantom Regiment and Madison Scout fans how they'd feel being in 5th or 6th place. This is the Cavaliers best show since 2014. I really like the music. They started the season being close to Crown but ultimately were running 5th most of the season. Boston passing them in a few recent shows is not a reason to think they are in trouble. I do expect that Boston will beat them at Finals. The Crusaders have a better show and are performing the heck out of it. It will be close.
Agreed. there is nothing that says a corps that has been rebuilding ever since Santa Clara raided their staff is in trouble, because they are in 6th place and maybe even 5th. They are on the uptake and will continue to do so. But watch out what you say right now because the Cavies new staff is solid and have as of yesterday closed their rehearsals for the remainder of the season. That is something they have not made a big deal about in quite a few years. Well they sure did today and yesterday. Even telling their family members that they will have to register and wear a wrist band to sit in on rehearsals. No one else will be admitted. Just sayin, its not over yet. And they have the members and staff to work wonders.

Because of the rain out last night in Allentown, DCI rules will use an average score from San Antonio and Atlanta for placement in Indianapolis..
Look at these averages Cavies 89.16 , Boston 89.1
Cavies go into Indianapolis in 5th place, yeah!
