Show of hands - who had BC performing after Bloo in SA at the end of last year? (Understanding the pods of 3 but still...)

Bloo gets best silks award too, I think.

Unfortunately, I think Bloo is suffering from a bit of "been there done that" and their scores are suffering as the season moves on. They are unbelievable though and I hope I end up being wrong.

I love the idea of the Cadets show more than how to design actually came out. It is getting better though.

I haven't and it's not true for the top corps, for sure.
Wait until BD comes on

Soloist does look like a choir boy. Extra effect?

I hear all this substance and content about Regiment's brass show this year, but do you not notice that every single time the section playing the hardest music is standing still while the rest of the horn line is moving?
I've heard that same complaint about every corp this year on this board...

So far. That 2015 edition really cleaned up the 2nd half of the year. Maybe this '17 group can do the same.
And that 2015 had nowhere to go w/r/t substance.

It's a HUGE miss for me. I first saw them in 1984 and this is easily my least favorite show if theirs ever. It just isn't good.
To me, this is way better/more interesting than City of Lights...

Let's not get crazy. Bloo 17 wasn't around in 2011 lol
Aw that makes more sense then. I think folks are confusing it with BDs theme a tad
Not saying I'm taking Cadets FTW - just in terms of growth throughout the season.

Just me - but I would buy stock in Cadets. Shades of '11 to me and plenty of room to grow.

The hell if I know. I'm just going by the description of their show concept.
I agree. Just seems like an odd choice to me - or at least 3 years too late.

Oh I believe it is about how good she is. And I think they decided to go with a singer probably to symbolize how much drum corps is changing (which I think is the central theme of their show). They have a lot of room for improvement I guess.
Maybe I'm too dumb to get the concept...but the ironic thing to me was that the DCI vocalist is actually starting to get passé...so how does the vocalist represent change in 2017?

Crowns show really does nothing for me this year. Highly unusual because I usually love them. Last year I felt was a little flat and now this year the whole thing just feels lifeless. Brass is impressive obviously. The ballad is just cringeworthy and the show concept didn't work when Cadets Winter Percussion did it either.
My favorite show tonight was Crossmen then Cadets
I thought both Spirit and Colts are set up for great seasons
And... I was very impressed by Genesis. Wow!
I disagree about last year (one of my favorites) but completely agree with your comments about this year. I hope there are major changes - just a waste to me at this point.

Cadets are coming...

On the 50 tomorrow so looking forward to the show. First time to see Cadets this year. I'm guessing the order for the top 3 will stay the same but will be interesting. Will be a packed house.

I calculated crown's score if their percussion scored a perfect score and the rest of the caption scores remained the same. Here's what it looks like:
GE: 38.95
Visual: 28.95
Music:
Brass - 19.7
Analysis - 19.7
Percussion - 20.0*
Music Total: 29.7
Final Score: 97.6 ....and what would the final results look like?
1st - Blue Devils 97.650
2nd - Carolina Crown 97.600
It wasn't all the percussions' fault. Visual held them back too.
This cannot be overstated. In my mind (and CC is my favorite org) this show was not at the level of 2013 and it was because of the visual design. Unbelievable talent, performance and story, but the drill design seemed to be a bunch of blobs, scatter and blocks. Too reliant on body movement. Having said that I still loved the show but I believe the final result was correct.

I think this may be new? Like the addition. Helps tremendously with the deconstruction theme.
