Was that a bit of 2001 Cavies?

Vesuvius! A piece I enjoyed playing in concert setting. Always fun to hear it on the field.

Hi cam became multicam apparently.

Oh, marching in to a cadence, complete with the colors. It's nice to see traditions alive and well in DCA.
(This is my first viewing of a DCA show. They have an international audience this year!)

Oh, I like this singing.

There are some exceptional players in Kidsgrove's hornline. They really pack a punch -cleanly- especially for their size.

I like that BK acknowledges how fans greatly appreciated the lack of amplification. They seem very self-aware that fans love a powerful acoustic show. I expect that they'll build on this next year.
Another note of interest is the DATR attendance figure of over 10,000. This is a non-regional show. If the lineup was fleshed out a bit more, DATR would rival the regionals for attendance. I would go so far to say that if it was made a true regional, it would rival finals for attendance.

I'll take that bet. In Casper the people who have no idea far outweigh those who do. Of those who do, the jury is out regarding where they fall in the caring continuum.
That's rather unfortunate to hear. Given how small and incredibly isolated Casper is, this surprises me.

I would guess, honestly, that most nashvillians don't even know Music City exists.
You could say this about most corps from metropolitan areas. I guarantee 90% or more of the people in Denver have no idea who the Blue Knights are (nobody there even knew when the Rapids won the MLS cup in 2010, many didn't even know Denver had a professional soccer team). Obviously, this lack of recognition doesn't keep the Blue Knights from being successful.
I would bet everyone in Casper knows of the Troopers, though.

I agree with the original post (with some deviations). I found plenty of Open Class shows riveting, and my enjoyment increased until peaking with the Mandarins. Then my enjoyment fell sharply, with the exceptions of Blue Knights and Boston Crusaders. But after Boston, I had no issues turning off the stream. I can respect some of those shows, like SCV, and I of course respect the marching members, but I didn't enjoy the shows near as much as many of the lower placing corps.

Would love to see Blue Knights push past 6th. That's been the ceiling for them so far, but they have the talent to push them further. They have an identity that no one else has come close to copying. They just need a better visual design to get there (though by the end of the 2017 season, I came to realize that their visual design was really quite brilliant).
I really hope they keep their musical staff intact, as well as the person who does their color schemes.

Prosprie had BK 4th in percussion. Wow. That is incredible! Music was definitely their strong suit this season. They finished 7th in brass as well. They were my favorite corps to listen to this season, and honestly, I thought their brass and percussion were underscored a bit, for one main reason: dynamics. Best dynamic control of anyone in 2017.
I really hope 2018 will see the same style brass and percussion with continued improvement.
There's a medal in your future BK, why not make your 60th anniversary that much more special?

BK 5th for on-field drums. Way to go BK!

Phantom's brass score actually makes sense tonight. Content 7th, achievement 10th.

There is either a placement upset here, or a tie. I caught someone tell Potter "everything but the last two" on Potter's mic.

Hmm, my FloMarching username just popped down from the FloMarching logo. Pirates beware, I guess.

Mix of Bb/F/G brass, and nary an amp in sight. I'm going to like this.

Shades of BK 2011 as SCV Alumni file out of the tunnel.

That only makes the statement even more true.

That's a good point, actually.

BD's high brass book is completely written using ledger lines.

BD is clean, super clean. But I don't buy them having more visual content than SCV. It's like they're rocking a slow jam in comparison.

Awesome acoustic pitch bend! That was an excellent finish to that show.
