So Cadets have "Chaos" and much of "Simple Song" on the field
Immediately thought of 2000 when you said "Chaos"

I would suggest listening to the Mass Suite (arr. Michael Sweeney)
The whole first third of this suite is Sanctus, and it sounds incredible. But...that isn't one of the pieces Cadets are playing, right?

Yeah, I was exaggerating a bit. But check out the predictions page, a good percent of the day to day posters on here won't put crown above third, that's where I got to thinking about all this. I'm so excited to see how everything unfolds.
I think most have a hard time placing them above BD or Bloo, considering they have had virtually no staff turnover. Additionally, SCV now has Gaines....so watch out there. None of this really means anything, though, and I would not be surprised to see Crown get 1st or 2nd. But when making a list of predicted final results in May, it's all we have to go off of. It will be exciting! Just as it always is

Everyone lately has been predicting crown to fall on its face this season. By crown standards, they mean dropping a few spots, out of the top 5 even. I read a commenter compare them to cadets 2016... I'm just curious as to why so many people actually believe this? Crown has been nothing but consistent these past few years I can't imagine how different staff is going to kill them. After all it's the marchers going out on finals night and doing the dang thing, not the staff. Let's remember they won visual, brass and color guard... to me it makes more sense to assume they'll do even BETTER, not worse.
All the elite corps are so talented, it typically comes down to staff and design. But I think it is a stretch to say "everyone" has been predicting Crown to fall. Most of what I have seen and heard has been very positive. Due to the staff changes, however, there is uncertainty and that is what is causing people to be more cautious when predicting. They very well could win it all....and they could also place around 5th. We won't know until we see something on the field.

DCI had a notable shift in 2016 (almost none of the corps featured singers) and it resulted in a wash of forgettable and lackluster shows. So glad Cadets are re-righting that ship and putting the focus back where it belongs, on the vocalists.. even if it's only for 8 minutes of an 11 minute show.
The difference, however, is that MASS was originally composed to feature vocalists. In order to stay close to the intent of the music, a choir should be welcomed. I think it's a great idea
Most corps in the past have included singing/vocalists just because they could, not necessarily because it was vital to the production

Is there going to be an official announcement out of Cadet's social media? Or on the website? I want to see a graphic or short video like other corps have done in order to get a glimpse of possible design. Need to over analyze the font and stuff

What ever. You do not understand. Show is not like last years. You will need time to understand the show over time. LM name the shows music.
You sound like a child

Or maybe Bernstein's Symphony No. 2: Age of Anxiety. An overlooked piece and it would be fitting for our current environment. So much greatness to choose from this is exciting

I think that he'd enjoy it more. I wouldn't last a week in that DCI pressure cooker without blowing like Vesuvius.
Ahhhh Vesuvius. 2008. Played quite wonderfully. But had no business in a show about the pursuit of happiness

Not going to lie, I'm kinda excited that so many people seem to be counting out the Cadets. You look at the prediction thread and there's not much love (and understandably so...I get it). But it feels like the Cadets are an underdog, which is certainly different. Hope the members feel that too and use it as a source of energy. I think they will be hungry

If Crown drops to 6th this season, I'll agree with you :-)
And that's highly unlikely IMO. I predict Cadets and Crown will both be top 5. If Cadets move back up, someone has to come back down though. And I have no idea which corp that would be

They were thin in the visual design catagory but beefed that up a lot. The guys that were responsible for the 2nd place guard from 2014 are back along with last year's group. Also Craig Sellers is heading up cleaning. He arrived the latter half of July and really helped clean up the drill which was taught to them in mid July. Should be a much better constructed and performed show.
Visual visual visual. It's been the Achilles heel the past couple of seasons. Fix it and they should be in medal contention. Music certainly doesn't seem to be the problem. I always seem to enjoy listening to the CD more than watching the DVD. Would love to see Cadets have a top 3 colorguard again. And clean feet please :)

Those at the camp, thoughts on the brass arranging? Sound good? Brass and guard are the captions I'm curious about. I feel pretty fine with how percussion will do

The three years I liked the Cadets least - 2006, 2007, and 2008 - vocals. 2007 was such a shame too, because that would have been one of the greats had it not had vocals, IMO.
Completely disagree about 2007. Do you understand where the theme that year came from? "This I Believe" is an international organization that gets people to write and share essays about their beliefs and core values. The entire 2007 production was essentially the Cadets' submission. Narration was required. Take it away and the whole purpose of the show is lost. That program was one of the more complete concepts they've ever fielded, and they played the #### out of it. A monster show that should've won

I have been told by more than one high up DCI program coordinator that there is no conspiracy. Nobody is intentionally keeping the masses in suspense.. No, the reason we haven't heard announcements yet is really rather more mundane. . .
It's all down to licensing and copyright concerns. I know of at least one corps who has had to go back to the drawing board due to just this reason.
The announcements will come in due course. It's almost May. Season starts in 8 weeks. So I'd hope so.

pretty standard yea strategy. keep teasing the release / offering early access to donors to drive up conversions. theory is people get tired of waiting if you repeatedly say "soon". not sure it's sound but there it is.
Yeah seriously. It's been "soon" or "in a couple weeks" for like almost 2 months now. Kinda annoying. But I guess it works because we've all been talking about it and creating speculation
But now it's April. It's time. Give us SOMETHING. A title. Repertoire. A picture with hidden meaning. Anything.

How long was he at SCV? Cadets colorguard has kinda been their Achilles heel the past couple years. Would be awesome to see that caption competitive amongst the elite again

Not sure this is in the "trope" or "cringe" category, and might be a story for another thread....
But the whole "ballad in the middle of the show" thing. Tune-ballad-tune.
I actually found it a refreshing change of pace to hear Phantom do two ballads last season. Whether it worked or not... well... LOL
I would love to hear a corps do a no-ballad show. (By that, I don't mean just loud-loud-loud.) If that's been done recently, someone here can refresh my memory.
Cadets 2007. A monster show with no ballad
