  1. In my opinion, and it seems like many others can agree, Crown's shows have been all very similar since 2013. A lot of similar tempos, sound color of the shows all very similar (likely due to the key of Bb), with very very similar drill year to year.

And it's also just their style, but it's gotten a little stale for me as a fan. This past year was my favorite since 2013 by a long shot.

I love Crown, and believe their brass staff to be some of the best there will ever be, but I'm excited to see a change in show design.

  2. I had no idea and to my surprise the trombones BD were using were Bach Stradivarius 42BO Trombones...that is way cool!

I've owned a bunch of different trumpets and tried all kinds of models over the years...but I've always loved the beautiful sound that I could produce with ease from my model 37 Bach Stradivarius silver trumpet..,

I was extremely happy they were using the Bachs. Before Edwards, Shires, ect, came out, those models (of course not silver) were the standard orchestral trombone. I believe Joseph Alessi himself played on one for a while.

As a trombone player, I would be very happy to be in the Blue Devils to be able to play on a quality instrument over the summer.

Nothing against Yamahas, or Jupiter trombones, ect. But they are very different horns. As an orchestral player, if I wasn't on an Edwards, I would be on a Bach 42BO.

+1 for BD on my count

  3. I think this year's show is one that's coming back to what Crown was like before they won a championship.

I personally felt like 2014 and 2015 were very similar to 2013 in terms of how they designed the show, in a general sort of way.

This year seems a little different, I believe it's more difficult musically and visually than last year, and for me, that makes all the difference when I'm watching it, especially since the brass is a lot less harsh than last year.

Can't wait to see how they do the closer later in the season! It seems to be another great year for DCI.

  4. Just call me out for it for crying out loud.

The point is, there are many valid criticisms on here, but some people choose to do it with a little more tact, instead of showing their disdain for a certain person who runs the corps.

Call me defensive/sensitive about it; I couldn't care less. But answer this: How many times within the past 30 something years have people #####ed and complained about Cadets shows or about a certain director, then immediately jumped upon the bandwagon once that certain director has assisted in producing a show that has actually on or scored higher than 4th place?

You're defensive and sensitive about it.
