Well as long as the performers are having the time of their lives and getting the education of a lifetime that's all that matters at the end of the night.

Crossmen - much improved. Will move up
Blue Stars - holy cow! Well designed, fun show capable of goosebumps.
Cadets - what in the hell are they wearing??!?!!?!
Never thought the day would come when I would read that comment about Cadets...

Crown's hats this year are certainly unique. Does anyone think they look too big? They look like they are too big for the marchers' heads.
I don't think they look as big as '13 and '14 did. I know they're the same basic design but both years they looked significantly larger than '16 and now.

As others have said, it has nothing to do with the singer herself. She has an excellent voice, executes well and is just following instructions from the design team. It's just overdone in For Good and quite frankly I expect better from a top corps like Crown.
Out of curiosity, is she using an in ear? I would hope so because I couldn't imagine singing in stadium environments that change everyday without using an in ear or some form of monitor.

I would be all in on the singing if it was just in No One. I'd be happy if For Good wasn't present.
My thoughts exactly. All of the singing in For Good will get annoying before No One even starts. It takes away the full effect of the vocalist in No One.

After a few more announcements, why are titles and descriptions so pretentious? Loads of detail, lots of complex descriptions, "human emotions" and language we don't understand - when in the end it's just marching band- music and visual.
Even musicals or opera are not described in such a pretentious way!
This year seems worse than ever!
Let's face it...with a few exceptions, philosophically inclined shows win. How do you think the Blue Devils do it so often? BD 2014 finals night was a tick-fest, but they won with a record-breaking score. Sure at the end of the night it's numbers on a paper that determine rankings, but shows that are complex in meaning as of late come out on top ('Coats '16 was an anomaly).
As a result, three of the top world class corps are doing pretty much the exact same concept this year. As long as shows keep getting more complex and edgy, it's going to keep pushing to the next level for the following season.
If you think this year is confusing and the uniforms are outrageous, wait until 2018.

Maybe this was covered already but I'm gathering the white poles put up during the ballad represent the yard lines lifting up off of the field? Cool effect if so, but I think it may be more effective if they had one for every yard line. Perhaps more are coming or there's a reason for their sporadic placement.

Musically, I love it. The ballad is too reliant on the vocalist in my opinion. She's great in the beginning but let the brass shine during the latter half. "NO one" sounds great as well, but I thought percussion would get more of a full-length feature at some point. It is a percussion piece after all... but regardless, I do enjoy the brass writing and how it compliments the original piece.
Conceptually, I have no idea what's going on. I feel the exact same way about this show as I did when I first saw E=mc2. I enjoyed the music, but had no idea what was going on and figured it wouldn't even break top 3. Now of course as we know E=mc2 ended up being the most successful Crown show of all time.
So, I'm not going to rule them out of a medal just yet. Just like E=mc2, we'll probably see a TON of changes, additions, etc. between now and August (hopefully). On another note, I can't wait to see a full picture of the uniforms! Those shakos look really intriguing even from a distance.

There are numerous moments I can name from older drum corps shows but this one gets my vote for the modern era...
I saw Crown twice in '12, and both hits at :10 and :19 of the video below were truly magnificent. I remember the first time I saw it live I was watching the pit right before the first hit paying no attention to what brass was doing. Then it hit....I thought the sky was falling . Incredibly powerful, and in my opinion underrated, musical moment in recent drum corps history. Great corps, great show!

Part 3/4 of Crown's show announcement. Preview show is this Sunday so the full reveal should be coming soon...

Yes, back on the 7th. It's really just more words to generate hype. LOL at the top comment below the post about the Olive Garden menu

Did part 3 of the show announcement come out yet? I haven't seen anything yet on here or Facebook so I guess not unless I somehow missed it.

The A-town crowds can be an ornery bunch...that is not the first time I've heard fans being quite vocal...even in the middle of performances...followed by sounds of SHUSH around them...
I've been to several shows in many states and I agree. There's something about the A-town show that just brings out overall grumpiness and hostility among the crowd.

I normally don't buy into pre-season hype, but several have seen Crown's new unis at recent rehearsals and say it is the best one they've had in years. They'll probably reveal this Sunday evening since that is their preview show.

This will get GE, no doubt, but I think it will take a few weeks to get there. They still don't have the transitions nailed yet, but again they're still in learning mode. I can't wait to seed them clean - and the cool thing is they will be in Charlotte for a few days in early July. So hard to describe this show, but seeing it in person you can tell it has a TON of potential.
Great to hear! I'm excited to see these uniforms as many have complimented them. It's good in a way they have a lot to clean so they don't plateau too early. I get nervous when corps step out the gate far too clean in May.

The white maltese cross on the aussie didn't give you a clue? seriously
Now that you've pointed it out and I'm on my desktop computer yes you are correct that would have given me a clue. However I did not notice that last night viewing on my tiny phone screen because of the bright glare in the picture. seriously
Additionally, the cross is so tiny and blends in with the aussie it makes me wonder why they even bothered. I much prefer it on the chest. There's no way anybody will be able to see it from the stands if I couldn't even see it close up on an iPhone.

It actually took me quite a while to figure out who this is. I thought Cavaliers or Scouts at first then noticed the female tuba player.
Every season stands out for one reason or another. 2017 will definitely be the season of "progressive" uniforms.

:DAdd Cadets to that as well from what I am hearing from insiders. I'm saving judgement on all uniforms until I see them on the field...but I know this thread is going to blow up when both those corps reveal.

I prefer the use of the singer here to her use in the ballad.
I agree. I think her voice would be perfect to cover "For Good". I'm sure we'll see her part in "NO one" change multiple times throughout the season just like previous years Crown has used vocals.
From a percussionist, I personally love her vocals over top the beginning of the piece up through what I'll call the kick-drum feature (1:30 of the VF snare video). I think it's really groovy, rhythmic, fresh and adds a unique color to compliment the battery's notes. After that, it gets a little over-bearing and like others have mentioned I don't like the idea of it covering the brass especially during the climax of the piece.
Great writing though, this line is off to a great start!
PS...HOLY meter changes!
Opening Night!

That will probably be the same year a corps does a show entitled 'Lit".
