Quick Nightbeat review
Moved to NC a couple weeks ago to the Triangle area. The 90 minute drive to Winston-Salem was easy. For some reason I expected the stadium to be larger. We had tickets in section 8 row VV (about the 12 yard line). With the curvature of the stadium, still good seats. Big crowd!
Jersey Surf: Fun show and probably perfect for the kiddos in the corps. Percussion was larger than the horn line.
Pac Crest: I enjoyed it, still a lot cleaning to do. If there are callbacks to shows past in the music, I can't pick it out (except for Bloo's tilt)
Troopers: What an amazing show. So entertaining and got the crowd on its feet well before the final note. I fear they have too many Covid holes to make a strong push for finals. The celloist is awesome and well integrated (never thought I would say that about a drum copse show)
Crossmen: Glad they settled on the same structure for the show. Good idea in theory. My oldest talked to one of the Drum Majors after the show and she said Nightbeat was the 2nd largest crowd they performed in front of. Hope it makes finals.
Blue Knights: A show called Vibe should have more of a vibe to it. The members perform it well and you can tell they have the talent, but just a meh show.
Colts: I had a hard time getting to into the show earlier in the season but really enjoy it now and think they have a strong shot to make finals. Love all the colors as the show progresses and nice use of the props being used as stages throughout the show
Cavies: This show is growing and cleaning fast. Hopefully the corner tarps are gone for good. Fun show. the Tic-toc (frameworks callback is just fun)
Bloo: Love this show. So much fun and talent and so different. The narration works for me (not so much for my wife). The crowd ate up the keytarist number
Cadets: The show is growing on me. Did not like the narration earlier in the year, just seemd too monotone. In person, it worked. Cadets move like the Cadets of old. The closer is pure Cadets.
SCV: Love the show, but one I will listen too much more than watch again. The closer works so well. Percussion is still so clean and good
BAC: It is an amazing show, but not one I love. I see how it will be a top 2 show, but there will be many other shows I will listen to in the future. (I will say the same about BD, even if I didn't get to see them in person). Color guard is soo good, and I usually don't watch CG. Seemed like the electronic issues pre-show impacted the performance last night.
Really bummed the late night sprinkles caused BD and Crown to not perform.

Looking forward to the show tonight. Hoping the rain cooperates like it did the last two nights. This is a new experience for us since moving from Texas to NC a couple weeks ago.

Yup; forgot that fact. That one & USC are the only SEC stadiums that I’ve never attended. (I don’t count Mizzou)
No one should count Mizzou, still not sure how they got invited to the SEC.....

Small for an SEC school
not the home stadium for the hogs. Razorback Stadium holds over 76K

Thank you. About 56000 capacity for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.
For the Hogs games in LR. Fayetteville stadium capacity if much larger, and a much nicer stadium. In my time there, they split 3 games in each city, now the Hogs only play one game a year in LR.

Why did they add so much narration to this? Time for Moon River to put me to sleep.

I am the Walrus is about the only Beatles song I really don't like, but love this version....

I am amazed how great this year turned out to be. I did not expect such great shows across the board being an exhibition year.

Did he go off script when he said "Why is it called LIVE from the Rose if the vocals are pre-recorded? Don't recall hearing that before.
I think he said something different all 3 nights.

Love it Cavies! Having fun and blowing the windows out of the oil can.

I didn’t see, but probably their dog tags which they drop after retreat, normally.
That makes sense since they had a couple folks taking pictures as they were doing it.

If that guard isn't standing out to you, I don't know what to say
I guess I meant musically. Yes, the guard is awesome, and very impressive when you have about 1000 on the field!😀

They perform it great, but nothing really stands out to me like most of the other shows. IMO, The panels are a distraction and cut out too much of the field

Ok, what in the world is phantom dropping as the leave the field?

Best sounding end zone performance!

I like that corps are distinguishing themselves by show style in so many ways in the past few years. What BK has done since That One Second is just great.
Fall and Rise is the only one I have not really enjoyed, all the others have been near the top of my favorite shows of each year.
This is year is also a stand out, and my son's favorite of theirs.

Both beautiful shows. Both on Disney plus.
At some point, I need to stop being cheap and get Disney+!

In The Heights is a great show. Frankly I like it more than Hamilton. Blue Stars have done a great job arranging this and bringing it to the field.
Sad to say I have seen neither yet. Really hope the movie comes to DVD soon.

They didn't have the white tarp at the Mesquite show. It is needed for the finale to get the dots

Loved Bones in Mesquite. Just a really good Drum Corps show. The Hozier piece plays surprisingly well
