I have a question regarding guard.  Cadets used to have one of the best guards in DCI.  I know there has been a problem with consistency after April left.  Does it appear this issue taken care of?

Cadets used to have one of the best everything in DCI.

I wish we didn't have to look at the backside of the props at that point. But i understand that it allows the stair tops to face each other. Still seems like "oh yeah gotta do something with the props here."

The point in the show where the props become a liability to worry about is the point where the show design has surely failed. mov1, 2, and 3 do an excellent job of doing what they're supposed to do, but 4 & 5 fail at that. it begins to stagnate story-wise, and if your show is story-based, it needs to constantly be advancing. No room for character development, Darcie.

Anyone know who it is the Cadets "brought in"?  Who wrote the new ending?

That would be Jon Bilby. Cadet alum, drill writer, from the UK I think. He wrote C2's drill in '18, and he rewrote Cadets' closer this year.

EDIT: I think he also writes for Passaic High School in NJ

YEA! runs both USBands and Cadets.  Of course money and resources are going to be shared.  There might need to be more transparency on how money is flowed, but to suggest that money CANNOT be shared, is incorrect.

Yeah, I have to agree. How could they prevent the flow of money from USB to Cadets? If USBands makes the revenue (and it certainly does) and the electricity bills for the YEA offices come out of the revenue budget, does that mean the Cadets staff and admins can't use the same office?

FYI - they are working on at least one significant change/rewrite, and brought in someone with prior Cadet marching and Visual staff experience to write it

Given that I have marched said someone's content, I am very excited to see what changes the staff put in.

The Cadets arrangement of BOTW is very uninspiring and void of any emotional connection. And the tag at the end is just awful.

Do you mean the park & bark at the end of the BOTW or the tag at the end of the show? I don't know what the vis caption head was thinking when he put in the tag. It's very slow, not very dramatic, not energetic. What happened to the sort of drill from 2015/2016, the absolutely crazy kaleidoscopic symmetrical 200bpm tags, the run& guns? Did no one think to suggest that?

I think 2 corps have shown this (Bridge) isn't a good song for drum corps .

They do not even have the best quality arraignment of Bridge over Trouble Waters in DCI (see Academy).

I would have to disagree with you here. I think Drew did a much better job with Bridge Over Troubled Water than Academy.

That being said, I'm inclined to believe that the staff chose the ballad and designed the rest of the show to fit. I think this because the staff were itching to program in a Simon & Garfunkel piece after Sound of Silence was cut from the 2018 program.
