I remember reading about that!!!! So cool that they do that. What’s her connection to the corps?

From what I remember, PC somehow heard that she was no longer able to make it to the show, so they brought the show to her and started the tradition. That was nearly 10 years ago when it started.

  2. Full show from SCV also, that new closer is fire. This show has also grown on me, again with details that just aren't picked up on the broadcast. That baritone duet on the ballad is great, and the crowd ate up the trumpet screamers. This show is going to be incredible and BD has their work cut out for them.

Also love how versatile the props are, they almost seamlessly set up all these stages to feature moments. A few issues tonight though with pushing parts together though

  3. Full show from BK tonight. That show is much more cohesive when you can see all the details in the uniforms and props. New cost included full hornline + guard choreo to a sun obelisk in the back right of the field, into a closing push. This show has grown on me, but visual dirt is going to let Mandarins stay close.

  4. Finally got to see Pacific Crests full show since I missed sneak preview. The show feels like an evolution upon last year style wise. Trumpet quartet during the tap dancing section is solid, and get some good Madison-esque screaming going during a park and bark. Beautiful ballad with a euph small ensemble and mello soloist. Great closer too with some explosive drill. Wish they were louder, they sound so good but are noticeably quieter than Mandarins/Troopers. Also, first pc wave drill set since 2013, great to see the return of that.

  5. I love the opener from Troopers, the combination of the music with how the full finds into the arrow pointing west is great. Not a fan of the uniform change (something just looks awkward sit the jacketless uniform), and that's hopefully a temporary closer, cause it currently sort of abruptly ends. They are very clean both musically and visually for end of June.

  6. I'm behind on writing these up cause everything keeps running ahead of schedule for once...

Mandarins are hungry for finals this year. That show is monstrous. So many great moments in that opener, with these shifts between dark and eerie to very powerful chords. That stage spins, and they make great use of it. Too bad they can't use it tomorrow night at Pasadena (or so I've heard) The full time trombone section is a nice touch and have some great moments. Love this show.

  7. Quick highlights from open class:

Vessel - brand new corps, they have good numbers and had a fun show. Hope they can grow in this impacted socal open class scene.

Golden Empire: they're growing and improving, always good to see them

Watchmen: I think this is the biggest corps they've fielded. Great show from them, much more mature design from them than past years.

Gold: holy crap. They're looking like a world class corps. Huge hornline (76?), mature design. May not keep up with scvc/bdb but they could be looking at a promotion soon.

  8. Delayed reaction for SCV (was going to post earlier but was catching up with alumni for too long):

This show is very solid right now. I love the way the props are used in so many different ways - those things are very versatile. I was concerned that the mic'd performers would take most of the demanding music away from the rest of the hornline, but that is definitely not the case.
