Is anyone having problems with the video on demand?
I have tried four different computers, two different locations, PC and a Mac and have had problems with all of them. It will play and then stop, then play and then stop.
Thanks,

Where is the crowd.

Earliest in the season they have scored that high since 05.

No issues with my iPhone opening dci.org. But, with my iPad. It's telling me safari can not open the page because too many redirects occurred. Anyone having the same issue?
Me too on Ipad. Fine on the iphone and laptop.

Why are two non-world corps performing in between world corps?
4:33 pm Governaires
4:50 pm Minnesota Brass
Nothing against those corps, but is this schedule correct? Seems unusual.

FYI Madison was never within 3 points of Glassmen last season.

Thanks for sharing the photos! My grandmother will love to see them. She's jumped on supporting this corps just as much as the one that I marched. Gotta love family.
Do not be shocked at what scores they get tonight. The last few years they have started between 61-64 range. I hope for better, but first scores can often be strange.

I am not sure what type of media files DCI uses, but does anyone know if they will work on the IPad.
Thanks,

Has DCI released any info on the Fan Network for this year? I have subscribed every year, but have not heard anything yet. I just recently got back from a three week trip, part missions and then volcanic ash delay, and have not looked at everything. So I could have missed any information.
Thanks,
Mike

I just got back in town, after being stranded in London, (volcano ash) and got to watch the blu-ray. It is unbelievable.

The version that you can hear at the beginning of the video is by Hugo Montenegro. You can get it on Itunes.

This might have been posted already, but I did not see it. Steve Vickers interviewed Jim Mason for Drum Corps World, it is a must read. Mason said that he wants to push the visual forward, but bring back that "wall of sound." I am excited that Madison is trying to reestablish the brand they are known for.

(show us the green jacket with white pants!)
I'm just saying....
I know what the rumor has been. No white pants, but I believe that most will be pleased.

I have found several seating charts for Lucas Oil Stadium, but I cannot find the detail that I would like. Does anyone know how many seats are in section 339, row 1? I know there are at least 12, since I have seats 11 and 12.
Thanks,
Mike

This is all based off of the last three years, modified based on my best guess. I excluded Denver/Orlando because Cadets weren't attending (this was before the rainout). There could be something completely different, and we won't know until they post the lineup.
Thanks.

I'll post all the data below, but here's where we stand going into Saturday Allentown:
- No corps have moved in rank because of the Friday show.
- Because we know half of the scores, we can predict what other corps need to score to move up:
CROWN needs 94.7 to move ahead of Cadets, and a 95.6 to move in front of Cavaliers.
SCV needs to beat Crown by 2 points.
PHANTOM needs a 94.75 to perform after Bluecoats.
BOSTON needs to beat Phantom by 0.15 to take the lead.
BLUE STARS need to beat Boston by 0.5, and Phantom by 0.65.
BLUE KNIGHTS need an 86.45 to overtake Glassmen.
COLTS need an 85.15 to perform in 12th place over Troopers.
MADISON needs an 83.85 to go on after Academy at Quarterfinals.
JERSEY SURF needs an 83.15 to perform after Pacific Crest.
In order to make the Cinecast...
SPIRIT needs to beat Crossmen by 1 point and Madison by 2.4.
CROSSMEN needs to beat Madison by 1.4.
In short, 7-9 is up in the air and so is Glassmen/BK. Everything else is fairly set in stone.
(DCI will certainly have some new set of rules for this year that throw everything else off. And we still don't know what's happening with Surf.)
I am not questioning you, but can you tell me where to read DCI's information on how they are seeding quarters? I would really appreciate that.
Thanks,
Mike

When a judge gives a tie in a caption or sub caption, what is he really saying? Can he not make a decision? Is it poor number management? Just curious in your thoughts.

Judges are human beings. Even among themselves, they don't often agree on what they like or don't like, which is natural.
If we had 2 separate judging panels in 2 separate and isolated booths evaluating the same 12 Corps performances on a given competition, theoretically the scores, spreads and placements should be the same, correct ?
But they wouldn't be. Sure, among the mix of groupings of 3-4 Corps, they'd probably be grouped together, but otherwise thy'd be wide discepancies in the scores and placements among each grouping in my opinion.
For instance, among the grouping of Boston, Phantom, Blue Stars, Glassmen, in my view we'd see different placements, spreads and scores among the 2 panels.
Same performances..... 2 sets of judges...... different scores.
No conspiracy. All judges experienced and trained well. No favorites. no biases.
Just different likes and dislikes, and different takes on the same show performances, that's all.
Thus, in my view how a Corps does in competition is every bit a function of who the Corps draws as Judges in competition as much as their performance that night.
Can't prove it, obviously... but we can't disprove it either. But if folks think the 2 sets of judges would have these placements and scores and spreads the same among these groupings,in my view they'd find out otherwise. But of course, we'll never really know one way or the other.
But you can check the recaps from San Antonio and expand the GE captions and see that judges judging the same caption indeed have different placements. Sometimes by as much as two spots.

From DCI.org
Saturday's lineup will include a 4 p.m. opening performance by the San Antonio-based Open Class corps, Revolution, followed by 21 of DCI's 22 World Class corps that are taking part in the competition.
The order of performance for the DCI Southwestern Championship will be determined Friday night after the scores from the Southwestern Series events in Dallas and Houston have been tabulated. At the end of the San Antonio event, a 2009 Southwestern Champion will be crowned and caption award-winners based on averages from all of the series events will be recognized.
Thanks, but that really does not answer my questions. It does not give the specifics I would like.
