I hate to admit it but I was expecting more from Louisiana Stars after being so impressed with them last year.
It makes so much more sense with the voice overs and sound patches.
-
Louisiana stars really took a step back in the show design department this year.
Not sure what show you watched. This is by far the best concept and design, top to bottom, this corps has put on the field. Like, not even the same zip code. Had some type of electronics glitch that prevented all the voice overs and sound effects. But still a wonderfully flowing package.

I've got volume cranked and Boston doesn't seem as loud. Are they tweaking the feed?
-
I'd love to just purchase a Live Stream of Finals. U.S. That even possible? All I see on DCI.org is a bundle of entire Championships.

Ok. I'm 47 which makes me a dinosaur on here. So many my age, so etudes even me, talk about how much better it was in our day. IMHO Bridgemen Alumni aren't helping our cause. I do realize it's a fun group. But, the original Brisgemen were super fun. And good. And competitive!! These guys and gals sound like they are having the time of their lives reliving the glory days. But that's about it. Like a frat reunion in front of an audience. And broadcast live across the country.

My definition of what would be an awesome sound: 16 contrabass bugles.
But we'll never know...
Go watch Star of Indiana 1992 for a good representation. May have only been 14 though.

What Michael Cesario might say about Cadets if he were still doing the broadcast: "There's not a Kraft Single left on the shelves in Allentown tonight"
Have you seen the price of cheese? Cheese sells!!

Ha!! I love seeing those old guys trying to get blood back into their chops!! I feel their pain!! The struggle is real!

Cadets are so vanilla you could squeeze them into an extract.
Best line of the night!! I lol'd!!

Anyone else love seeing black dudes in drum lines? I freaking love it. Hell yeah
Or women play contra? Seriously, what was your point? I see great young men and women playing, drumming and spinning. Period.

Cadets feet are looking very good.

Am I wrong in thinking this would make a better Troopers show?

I must confess this will be the first time I've watched Cadets all the way through this year.

Love this Bluecoats show!!! And as an aside, I've been very very pleased with the camera work overall. Seems they are getting the important close up sections right on, and the high cam switch on most of the great drill moments. This is so unlike when I marched in 87, where all the cool drill or snare licks were missed while got to watch a great cymbal roll in the pit!!! Lol!!

Bluecoats contras! Another example of wind through the horn being all you need. At least in that section I could hear them!

That Bluecoats soloist trumpet at the beginning! What a relaxed embouchure!

Even IF Crown had an off night, they are still light years ahead pedagogically of most. Blue Devils this year though, man what what a hornline. I think the Ott is between those two.

They did look tired.

Closer is cleaner technically tonight than the rest of show. And haven't the tempos been cranked a bit in the opener and the closer?
-
Hornline is having a bit of an off night regarding articulations and balance I think. But those four soloists. And the ballad. Love.

Looking forward to seeing Crown tonight. Last time I saw them was in Bentonville, AR. I was truly moved. I am not a sucker for props or dancing, but I AM a sucker for great, passionate brass playing. The soloists before the ballad got me going, and the ballad opened the water faucet. Such wonderful playing. By kids. Yeah. It got me.

Still one of my favorite shows ever. Partially because I've had some close family members involved. ; )
I had a close friend who marched mello in 85 Suncoast. I literally had no idea what drum corps was at the time. One of the best shows ever. I've listened and/or watched it hundreds of times!

"Is it better mic placement tonight or did Crossmen just sound infinitely better than Blue Stars?"
I was going to say the same thing. All groups have a better ensemble blend tonight.
-
They are showing the Essentials Volume 3 spot (I can still play The Lick from Suncoast '85). I watched some of it this afternoon and it is outstanding, well worth the purchase.
THE LICK!! It's what got me into drum corps!! So, is the sound quality appreciably better??
