I hope they get around to posting Spirit and the Colts. Surf too!

    Totally agree!!

Sadly, I'm thinking that if they didn't post those corps with the other five that they did post on MMDownloads, then we aren't going to be seeing them due to licensing issues.  All three of those corps you mentioned were great this season - definitely wish we could get a final cut video of those performances!

  2. They are no longer being sold by DCI due to licensing, therefore, they are not available to purchase and rare.  There may be thousands of them, but people aren't selling them or trading them.

Your definition of rare may be different than mine...but if you are aware of the licensing issues and what DCI can and can't sell, you would realize that the years I am posting on ebay are valuable and "rare" to many people.

    Thanks

  3. I remember seeing Gabriel’s Oboe on a “forbidden” list put out by BOA or CopyCat licensing a few years ago, basically telling bands that it could not be used in their shows when applying for performance licensing, arranging, etc.  That obviously changed since Crown was able to secure performance and arranging licenses...but, the sync license must have been either denied to DCI outright, or it was astronomical in cost forcing DCI to cut it.  It would be interesting to know the facts.  I believe BMG holds the rights to that tune.

  4. Incredibly happy that there are only two cuts listed.  And the fact that they got the rights to Bluecoats done and opening of Phantom done is a relief.
Incredibly disappointed about Crown and Gabriel’s Oboe...the flugelhorn soloists were just wonderful.  My favorite part of Crowns show.  To not have that on bluray video is upsetting to say the least.  Some day licensing will get resolved...some day.

If I had to guess, the licensing deals are made for a set time period before needing to be renewed, and the 13-25 groups probably don't sell enough to cover the fees demanded by Tresona.

If thats the case, then I think it would make sense for DCI to put a disclaimer on the MMDL website that specific downloads are only available until "(Fill in date)".  I think they would probably sell a few more downloads if they did that...when people see that they are available for a limited time, they sometimes consider a purchase more strongly.  DCI used to do that when they released the physical video and audio products anyway, so why not do it for the online media as well?

I may be simplifying this too much, because I know some of the licensing agreements are varied and wordy...and DCI may not even know how long they can sell a download for.
