  1. The best encore I ever saw was by the Empire Statesman about 15 years ago.It was a small 4 corps show which had been moved from the original sight. It was hardly advertised, there were at most 200 fans in the stands, and the Statesmen played for like 45 minuites. It wasgreat and really the only thing I remember from the show. There was a lot of music not from the show in the encore, and the corps really seemed to enjoy it. It made quite an impression

Can't speak for this year, but 08-10 we always played tunes from the show and our standstill pieces. Mostly "Rio" "Yankee Doodle" "Elks Parade" and last year, sorry I forget the show, during an encore preformance the CorpsVets hornline joined us and we played "Georgia". I know there is a video of it on other sites.

  2. Whenever I play for a formal event that requires a necktie or bowtie, I am always uncomfortable. When I play (trumpet) and open up my wind pipe, my neck expands and I find the tie quite restricting and uncomfortable. I wonder if that had anything to do with the decision by Statesmen.

I never had a problem with it and I never heard anyone else complain about it. Our bowties weren't tight or anything. the old jackets were roomy and had a good bit of room around the neck, and the bowtie sat on the outside of the uni.

Lots of room to take a nice big breath.

Wish I could have been at the unveiling looks like an awesome uni!

  3. Wasn't it Lake Erie Regiment that bought Bluecoats old unis after 88??

Yep, LER had the baby blue Bluecoats uni, then in 2001 LER purchased Spirit of Atlanta's unis they used in 2000. This year those old LER/SOA unis were to be used by the new DCA corps that was going to come out of Erie, the Lake Erie Thunder, But they did not field a corps this year.

  4. OK...OK!!!

Kenny.....get control of your young lad. He is not getting the great guidance that I thought that he would receive from none other than Kenny "DCP" Bardin.

Kris...the reason for the hat discussion is that your hair is again out of control and you WANT some kind of headgear to cover the mop that you are growing!!!

If you think Seeley is scary think again. Controlling 1 Bardin is manageable....2 of you will put me out of my mind...lol!!!

    Your friendly horn instructor,

Jimmy Steele - Empire Brass Caption Head

P.S. Tommy is right....good thing winter recess is almost over....Kris will go back to school and become smarter....hint, hint...lol!!!

Is he still wearing skin tight jeans .... that might be whats wrong as well.
