What is the result of the thread? Will there be a encore performance of some sort by the minicorps champion, in the alumni show or otherwise?
-
I heard the entire minicorps competition last year from a relatively unbiased standpoint and I predicted that it would be very close between the top few corps. With scores as close as they were you can't even come to the conclusion that one corps was "better" than the others. The first place corps won simply because that's how the numbers turned out. I think one of the judges even had the winner in 4th place. Drum corps is about the performance, not the outcome. Even if one corps did get totally screwed, which simply did not happen in the minicorps competition last year, what's the point of going on about it?

I think that is the direction some members of MCA are wanting to go. That is fine for some of the minicorps but there are many minicorps that have members in common with (or are even subsets of) competing field corps, so a rule that restricts membership like that might hurt both minicorps and field corps, especially those that have recruiting trouble already.

There you have it. Yoda wants you to join the Sunrisers.

We already have some new people coming this weekend, but there is still an opportunity to march with the Sunrisers, so why not give it a try.
-
I believe it is secret until DCA weekend. That's what I've been told anyway. Most corps have publicly revealed whether they are Class A or not already though.
-
I believe that minicorps that do an exhibition must conform to the number of members and other stuff. If they have over 21 members they aren't allowed to perform. It's in the rules available from the DCA website and I think they apply to exhibtion minicorps as well.

A rhetorical question is one that doesn't require an answer, but that was a pretty good answer for a question that didn't require one. :)

Eric is the Assistant Director of Crossmen now, isn't he?
-
He said "one of the best hornlines" not "the best hornline", and anyway not everyone will choose only one corps and year to have had the best hornline ever.
-
Don't forget the last chance to be a part of the 2005 Sunrisers is this weekend.

That makes more sense to me than the Alumni show. The Alumn isnt as well attended as the prelims or finals anyway.
Donny
What is it that makes more sense? I am not sure which post you are replying to. I can't see where anything else than the alumni show was suggested, but I probably missed something.

When did anyone say that the minicorps should get the revenue? The minicorps have to pay to participate in I&E in the first place. Not only that, but they also have to pay for the insurance and performing rights and such, just like all the field corps (and maybe alumni corps, I'm not sure) are required to do, without getting compensated at all for their performance as the field corps and alumni corps are. That doesn't seem selfish to me. Actually it seems quite unfair, and it's one of the reasons why the minicorps of which I am a member is unable to participate in I&E this year.
This thread is a totally different issue, ie whether the minicorps champion should perform at the alumni show, because it might attract more spectators to the alumni show in the same way as the minicorps competition attracts spectators to I&E on Friday evening, and because it would be a cool way to recognize the minicorps champion.
