  1. Dino,

To answer your original question,I'm thinking Empire has never placed lower than 4th since 1984. It is a record that will never be broken I believe. Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

Yeah Kevin you're wrong.....Statesmen haven't been lower then 4th place since 1988. You only missed it by 4 years, but it IS a strong record that probably won't be beat.

  2. I've got to get this off my chest.....IMO.....Cabs M&M was terrible tonight, unless the judges don't look at feet anymore or spacing problems (or trying to catch up to other horn players in line). Minn. Brass clearly had the cleanest M&M tonight, even Bucs had more problems then I thought they would (although they are still good). Hurcs had the best guard (IMO) Empire had the best Honor Guard. Maybe Bucs get the highest score but NOT that much over MB.....come on.

Cabs and Hurcs should have been closer (if not tied - ha ha), but the jump up to a 98 was not called for. I had to get this off my chest tonight. Oh, and Cadets were better than I thought they'd be, congrats to them on a good showing for the first time at DCA.

I guess the placings were right, I just didn't like the scores......oh well, I'll live with it (but I'm anxious to see the breakdowns)

Thanks for letting me spout off.

  3. On a side note has anyone else seen major improvements in Empire's guard over the past few years? I don't understand why thier finals score was so low.

Yes, Statesmens guard has improved over the past 2 seasons. Last years finals was just fantastic for them. This years finals was great too......but I also remember the year(s) Bush's guard should have won, and Hurcs took the trophy.

Somehow I wonder if the finals show is really accurate?

I mean, last year's Empire show was 1000% better then their whole season, yet, their placing didn't change.

Bush's guard, in 2009/2008 was fantastic (I hope I've got the right years), but they didn't win the caption. Look back at the DVD's.....

  4. I was thoroughly entertained by every single DCA corps this year. It's brilliant when so many people from all walks of life and from so many areas of the country can come together for a weekend to celebrate the wacky, bizarre, dysfunctional - yet endearing, emotional and beautiful - world that characterizes the All-Age corps.

I think this holds true for most people watching DCA this year. Well put Ron H.

  5. Congratulations to the State of Minn. for winning the Class A and Open Championships at DCA this year. And congrats to "Star United" for winning the mini-corps championship as well, making it a clean sweep of the mid-west domination of the DCA World Championships for 2011.

It certainly makes all that hard work, worth it, doesn't it?

    Enjoy!!

  6. Yes, congrats to the new DCA World Champions. You worked hard for this, and it couldn't have gone to a better group of drum corps people. You were 'flying' so high after Saturdays win, that no one could have beaten you on Finals night.

Also congrats to every volunteer in your organization, your staff and all support people, because they were as much a part of your championship as the marchers on the field. A classy bunch of people.

Your first championship will be the one most remembered, so enjoy it to the fullest!

  7. If I have to pick 3 shows that were my favorite last night:

Carolina Crown (best feet of the night)

    Blue Coats

    Blue Stars

Those are also the 3 corps that will surprise us the most (if Blue Stars could get rid of that noise in the front ensemble)

Cadets and Cavies are a must see show once they clean it up....WOW.

Phantom is good already, but not demanding.

SCV - this one I'm not sure about - I couldn't get into their show.

Blue Devils - nice show, but I wanted to get 'into' it, but just couldn't. Maybe as the season goes on it'll be more appealing to me.

Very hard to tell, this early, but I was impressed most with Carolina and Blue Coats although I didn't understand the 8th place for them.

  8. If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter)

If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint.

When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit...

C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE??

All that said and out of the way...

Guess Who the Drum Major is # 427 ?

Okay, that's not their regular drum major either. Could it be B.L.?
