  1. Amazing how quickly the finger pointers scatter when light is brought on the subject.

My opinion is just that. I'll keep it to myself. Don't want anyone's feelings getting butt hurt......

Troopers 2016. Great show! Loved seeing the growth you had over the season. Thank you for being OUR heroes!

  2. Due to circumstances, blah, blah, blah, I have 2 tickets for Atlanta in Sect 222, Row 14. Asking $150 for the pair, which is less than I gave. I will be outside the main gate at 1:30 local for pickup. Text 2564127981 for more info. See everyone in the ATL!

  3. Adams Marching Brass - Saw it two ? years ago at Midwest, played the marching trumpet last year @ Midwest. My opinion: What I played wasn't much better than Jupiter. Thin feel, both the horn and the sound. I remember the valves having metal caps and they would "bounce" when you released a valve. However, I don't think Adams will put out a sub par instrument with their name on it. Reputation is worth more than a few dollars from the marching arena. I hope that the quality has went up, as these were still demos.

As far as Phantom, folks, we have to get out of the rut we've been in for the last few years. Pick a design team and let them design. Innovative yet classic. The Richard Einhorn - Voices of Light/Passion of Joan of Arc has a very PR sound to it. What about more Wagner?(There's more than Elsa's and Der Ring)

As much as I'd love to hear New World again, I was there the first time and don't want that memory to be touched.

Best of luck to all the corps and design teams as 2016 looms around the corner. Entertain and dazzle us.

  4. Shows I Like: Bluecoats, BD, SCV

Shows I.. well, meh: Cadets, Crown (and that hurts to type), PR and Cavies

That's what I like right now. I don't care about scoring. I have played tag with most of this judging panel before. I think judges have preferences... based on their own experiences. I can honestly say that as a fan, the score and placement have never been a factor when watching the DVD's/Blu-Rays.

The great thing about ALL of these shows is that they still have a lot of room for improvement. (Cadets.... maybe not so much..... so clean!) Still time for a lot of changes, both big and small. It's amazing how much change there is from the first show to the last.

As far as just talent....... WOW!!! Amazing to see the talent on the field..... that goes for the other corps that weren't at this show also.

  5. Let me ask then...why is there the need to be closed off?

Some ideas: 1) The staff wants the members as focused as possible for finals week. They've asked parents to respect their wish for closed rehearsals. My daughter is out there and I'd love to sit and watch her but you won't see me at a rehearsal. 2) The corps wants to add a few new tweaks without it being spread all over the internet. 3) They asked.

  6. Well I am not a pretentious jerk who thinks they have rights they don't have. If a corps is at my local high school and is there as a guest of my high school's music department you bet your butt I will go watch if I want to. Respect MY wishes to watch. I can't believe Phantom would be so disillusioned they would try to close an outdoor rehearsal. And so much for traditions when I and many others have sat in the stands watching Phantoms finals week rehearsals. Rehearsing at a private school ...no problem, although not great public relations....PR if you will.

Unless things have changed, the schools are getting paid through the corps via DCI for housing. If I pay for the facility use, I think I have the right to close my rehearsals. Also, at every school I've ever taught, different organizations have closed rehearsals from time to time.

Want to watch Phantom during finals week? Wednesday they have an open house rehearsal 7 to 9. Go to it and enjoy. Otherwise, respect the corps and let them do their job. They paid to be there (both the corps and the members), so take your freeloading ### and buy a ticket to semis and finals and enjoy!

  7. I'VE GOT IT! PR! Why not put a chalice on the drum major podium. He can drink it in the sad part at the end of the ballad and slowly die on the podium (instead of marching off all awkwardly).

Then after he slowly dies on the podium, Juliet could come to the podium and weep his death, and kill herself...

That could work, especially since Juliet takes forever to get to the podium. Cheese, yes, but a little cheese can go a long way!

  8. Yeah, i know i didnt see them live. However, ive seen recent vids, and are not better than Bloo. PR maybe had an awesome showing? Yeah most likely. But +1.75 at a home show is fishy in regards to an entertainment caption.

    Okay, videos.

Dude, do you enjoy Bluecoats show? I hope so. There's one thing I have figured out about this activity after 31 years as a fan, participant, instructor and parent: The scores don't matter. Performances matter. Scores are educated opinions, but are subjective, like it or not.

I've seen the same videos and you know what my opinion would probably be, correct?

If you get caught up in the score war, you're missing the point.

Besides, these were on completely different sheets. Relax and enjoy some great drum corps performances!
