  1. San Francisco Renegades

    April 5, 2013

    Renegades Updated Summer Schedule

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."

    ~ Michael Jordan ~

It's no secret that times are tough for just about everyone. We're all working to make the best life we can with what we have, and that often doesn't leave much for extra-curricular activities. Whether its time, money, or both, sometimes we lose track of the things we love.

The Renegades are experiencing these hard times, as are other corps around the country, and the amount of people able to attend rehearsals has not been what we need to put out a corps at the level that our fans expect from the Renegades.

Basically, without a full corps (or close to it), we do not have the money coming in to pay for facilities, staff and show. But no one wants the corps to fold or to stop performing. If we cut the 4 DCI shows, it is possible to put on performances with less rehearsals and a volunteer staff (or close to it). Dues are being reduced, the cost for the 2013 season will be announced at next camp.

As a result, the Renegades' Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to not put a corps on the competition field for the summer of 2013. This, however, does not mean that the corps is folding.

Repeat: THE RENEGADES ARE NOT FOLDING!

What we ARE doing is planning a summer of standstill and parade performances; Renepalooza on May 19th; the Fourth of July parade in Fremont (where we are always Rock Stars); and the Renegades Reunion at Loudest Show on Earth on July 7th. (Yes, 7/7 !) Throughout this Spring and Summer, we will also be pursuing and participating in corporate and sports venue-related performances, such as playing for IBM and for the San Francisco Bulls pro hockey team. And as the grand finale, our WORLD TOUR in Las Vegas the first weekend of August!

Musically, we will keep the Opener, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, In the Stone and Open Up Wide. We may add or subtract as time goes on.

Camp schedule will be as follows: April 20, May 18/19 , July 6/7, July 27/28. The drum staff may run a camp in late April or early May due to WGI conflicts. We will let you know ASAP.

Look at it this way - you will own the most exclusive member patch since 1999!

Our focus will be on getting as many people as possible to join us in building the Renegades for the future. Recruit performers, volunteers, and alumni - anyone you think can help!

"The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping-stones is how you use them."

We will also be developing a multi-year plan that will allow us to build a solid financial base and recruit for the future. We encourage everyone reading this message to step up and be part of the team working to strengthen one of the most entertaining and unique performing groups so that they can continue entertaining the world for many years to come.

Thank you for your support for the corps, and please do what you can to help us through these changing times.

    Sincerely,

Chris Nalls and the Board of Directors,

    San Francisco Renegades

  2. Renepalooza \ˈre-ni-pe’lu:zə/ is an annual musical festival featuring popular Drum Corps, good food, awesome performers, loud music, BBQ, auctions, and family fun. It has also provided a platform for the last G Horn Drum and Bugle Corps and DCA Rebels.

Come be a part of some fantastic loud fun on Sunday August 5th at the the Martinez Waterfront park in Martinez, CA from 3-6PM. The Waterfront Park is located at the Martinez Marina, only minutes from bustling downtown. The park is a spacious, well kept park with a great playground for the children, and one of the world’s largest collection of Bocci Ball courts (they are truly amazing, open to the public, and immaculate).

This is a very exciting new fundraiser for the Renegades, and promises to be a fun music filled evening with the talents of Roland Garceau, The Jim Ott Memorial Brass Ensemble, the combined hornlines of the Renegades and JOBE performing, as well as an epic standstill of the Renegades 2012 production “Twisted”. Other musical groups TBA.

A $10.00 donation will get you a burger or hot dog and a drink, plus an entry in one of our many door prizes. Additional food will also be available, as well as an incredible Silent Auction.

So grab your friends and family, and come eat, drink, and be merry with us in this great location, and help support the Renegades as we push towards DCA Championships!

  4. Because he's on his ipad he asked me to copy this over from another topic with that said... I also just voted :) hope you guys get the cash man...

    Hi DCP collective

Call this is a testimonial if you will.....

I participated with Dream on the field in 2010. I have also participated with Renegades in CNY, as well as a rare opportunity ito march on the field at finals last year. Before that..I took the field with the return of DCI's first champions The Kingsmen in their 07 performance at the Rose Bowl. In 09, I participated in the first competitive Kingsmen corps in 20 years when the Kingsmen Sr.corps took the field.

While we hear a lot about east coast happenings and traditions- please keep in mind your not to distant brothers on the west coast, are slowly building those traditions. We don't have the Barnum ,Wildwood , Serenade in Brass or Allentown. But we do have an Anaheim Halloween Parade, a phenomenol parade through the city in San Fran - and if you hang in the parking lot or get into the stands at Riverside, Walnut, Stanford or Stockton...you may meet a collection of guys and gals who were part of some of the finest horn lines, color guards, and drumlines in DCI history. The stands, lots, and corps are full of guys from SCV, Kingsmen, BD, VK, Freelancers, and many, many ,others.

I am not an official spokesperson for these corps..just a past participant. But I have had some of the best times of my life because of what these corps gave me.

This year, unfortunately I cannot march due to a rather unexpected but necessary job transfer that occurred in April. Of course, tHis move has taken me a couple thousand miles from my friends. But these corps will always be my friends and familly just as Cabs, Bucs, and legacy corps are family to so many people.

So when I hear they need some help, and really, for whatever reason why... you bet I am there. It's not only for the reasons of me being an alumni or veteran of the corps. It is also for the larger picture of seeing and being part of drum corps history. The continued growth and stability of the all age/ alumni movement on the west coast.

In that spirit, I would like for you all to give a little bit of your time for Dream, and give a vote to their cause. With Gades, just 5 bucks

Helps them to their fund raising goals. The travel to Rochester is obviously expensive ...who knows if the powers that be will once again put us back to 4.00 a gallon again.....But deep down, having more corps attend gives you the spectator more entertainment...not only this..but the knowledge that DCA IS growing and reaches everywhere.

Please help these corps, who not only travel thousands of miles to the east coast every year...but also provide great experiences for so many people in a burgeoning all age region. Help your drum corps friends on the West Coast in building their traditions...vote for Dream and 5 dollars for Renegades. It's that easy.....

  5. No doubt about it, times are tough. We love being part of the drum & bugle corps world, but economic hits make participating in the activity a lot harder, so we’re turning to you for help!

The San Francisco Renegades is asking our brothers and sisters in this wonderful activity to lend us a hand by giving us a donation of "Just $5"

It may not sound like much – and it’s not! This small request can add up to great things if everyone here donated just $5 to our cause.

    To donate online go to
. If you wish to mail a check, please send me an email to
and I will send you a mailing address.

Our goal for this fundraiser is $7,500.00 for the month of June.

On behalf of The San Francisco Renegades - we thank you! We can only succeed this year with your support.
