  1. 2) What the heck with Male Enhancement commercials?!! I have family members and friends with their families watching this show. What do they think the audience is here? I don't really want to be explaining this to my 9 year old.

Must be your local cable company as Comcast Central Jersey didn't have any such commercials. I only saw commercials for NAMM, Yamaha, AJ Wright, maybe some cruise ship of some sort, and random ESPN spots.

  2. haha ... Jocks across the country must think we're a bunch of retards after seeing the "dream girl," or whatever she's called, from the Cadets show. That clunky "beat box" segment didn't help, either.

    Smokin' drum line though ...

The jocks weren't watching. Even with all the features (which were great, including the 1993 heart rate redux), any person not interested in music is going to flip away from the station before a few minutes are up. I don't think that's something DCI can ever solve; drum corps as it is will always be a niche activity. On top of that, the television experience just isn't engaging like a live competition is... unlike a football game where watching the game on TV is almost always better than being their live (except for the atmosphere).

    (IMHO of course)

  3. I've always wondered ... when you have a Wiki, what's to prevent people from posting bogus, misleading, or downright incorrect information?  Or presenting an opinion as fact?  Are there any checks & balances?

All users are editors, so anyone can very simply eliminate the latest change to an article or edit to add additional information. For those who like to edit to repair sloppily-written articles, opinions, or factually incorrect info, you can go straight to the list of recent changes to see what has been added or changed lately.

  4. I posted this a while ago, but I wanted to re-open the invitation to everyone on Drum Corps Planet...

There's a new collaborative website called DrumCorpsWiki that needs lovers of Drum & Bugle Corps. The website is a Wiki, and that means anyone who visits can easily share information and write articles. The site has the possibility of being the biggest Drum Corps Encyclopedia on the Internet, but it needs the help of drum corps fans to provide the information. You can add your own articles or edit what has already been posted. DrumCorpsWiki was just created, so we're looking to get it started with more info before it's released to the general drum corps public.

So, check it out, and share your knowledge...

(It is _not_ a forum like Drum Corps Planet.)

(Also, no, we're not selling anything.)

  5. Some of you might have heard about DrumCorpsWiki, a new online drum corps encyclopedia. It's completely collaborative, so any visitor can share their knowledge. I need some help in order to get it started though. There are many corps that have gone inactive that I have no information on... and I'm sure there are people here who know much more than I know. There are still holes on the pages for senior and alumni corps, too.

Take a look around the site, and feel free to leave any information you think would be valuable for people interested in learning about drum corps. It's easy to do, every article has an "Edit this page" option. You can add new articles, as well.

    DrumCorpsWiki is located here.

    Thanks! And enjoy!

  6.   1) Are you going to have a separate area for the Alumnis or should they go in the Non-Competative area?

      2) In the Non-Active area are you going to split between Sr/Jr. Putting 'em together would be confusing and (unfortunately) there are more inactives than currently active.

There can be a separate section for the Alumni corps... and I do like the idea of having a separate listing for the Jr. and Sr. non-active corps. The beauty is anyone who gets familiar with the Wiki system can make it and set it up how they think it should be set up. Any visitor can make changes to the website...
