PrfctTimeOfDay
So, I've heard rumblings of some guards and percussion groups having to scramble to find plans to Dayton after Skybus has stopped all their flights!!? Was anyone affected? Were other airlines helpful??!?
Meaghatron
Northeast Independent was one of them. At FFCC Championships today, 10% of the proceeds from DVD sales were going to them and another (or more) groups that were affected. I don't know the other guard(s) that was affected. PrfctTimeOfDay
I don't know if those groups have found alternate flights, but I'll offer up this. Dayton has about 12 national airlines that fly into the airport, but Cincy and Columbus have many more flights coming in and going out. Both Cincy and Columbus are a VERY easy 1 hour drive to Dayton. .. Cincy is a HUB for Delta Port Columbus which is the International Airport in Columbus has Southwest as a carrier and I think they might be the best bet for the Skybus people. . .cheap rates and reliable. . . .if you fly into Columbus you'll just zip down I-70 west and be in Dayton in about an hour. . . .depending on where you're going, you'll either take 675 south to the Nutter Center Area or 75 south to downtown/UD area. . . you'll hit 675 first when your traveling on 70 and then about 10 miles later will be where 70 and 75 criss cross. If you fly into Indy. . .just reverse everything...and go east on 70. If you fly into Cincy. . .all you have to do is zip up 75 North. All very easy and accesible drives Also, people affected might even check into Indy. . .it's only 1.5 hours from Dayton. Dayton International Airport: http://www.flydayton.com Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Int'l Airport: http://www.cvgairport.com Columbus Airport: http://www.columbusairports.com Indianapolis: http://www.indianapolisairport.com/ Edited April 7, 2008 by PrfctTimeOfDay
Brassislife
The problem is that Skybus has not refunded thier money and will not refund their money for a couple more months. Thankfully both groups have made alternate arrangements. River City has secured a bus. Most Northeast members are flying seperately (using their own money), some are riding with schools that they teach, and some are riding with River City. so, River City and Northeast Will be in Dayton this week!! quegrawks
I just heard that ATA also went out of business, and some other airline did too. Hopefully not too many others are affected.
