The scores or placement for the top 12 from semi's were not announced, but they did announce which 5 corps made the top 5. The bottom 7 picked randomly from a box of large placards with the numbers 1-7 on them, then the top 5 picked from a box with cards that had 8-12. This determined the corps performance order. Retreat was set up in the order of performance so the Bluecoats, who went on last in the non top 5 group, split the 50 yrd line with Star of Indiana to our right and the Blue Devils to our left. This is how I also know that the Sky Ryders did not go on between us and BD at finals. If anyone has a photo from 1988 finals retreat you will be able to figure out the performance order from that picture.
