hayleyfly
i've always spun with 6ft as a standard...we used 6 1/2 for one part in a show this year (boy was that an adjustment when our staff didnt realize we were spinning with different poles for warm ups) thought about joining the college marching band guard...went to band camp and spun with 5 1/2 ft flags...no weapons...no tossing and that was the end of that. i'm not dissing on 5 1/2 fters, but i just prefer something a little longer. you know what i'd really like to try? This past winterguard season, Blackwatch used these super skinny poles in their show. I really wanna try those out, they looked like fun! nothingelsematters
I'm really partial to 6ft. poles. When I first learned how to spin a flag it was on a six footer. and, to this day, when I come back to my high school after a season with drum corps I DESPISE using 5.5 footers. surfrose
definitely 6ft. This just seems to be the best in-between size to get the best of both worlds. A 7ft gives more effect, but less maneuverability, and a 5.5 gives the maneuverability but little effect. A 6 combines both as much as possible. Phantomette
Our instructors teach Black Watch also, so we used the same skinny flag poles. At first they were akward but now I can't stand a normal sized one! Oh and definately 6' or longer for me.
GuardRach
6 ft poles, I'm 5'0 so spinning 7 ft poles are a little weird for me
dci_chica_no1
SeanOwenSullivan Seriously though...which pole length do you prefer? I am partial to 6ft. ME TOO SBrancheau I like the 5.5 footers because the average guard person isn't too much taller than that. I think all of our guard but 2 is Shorter than that. I'm the Shortest. YAH go me.
