N. Y. SKYLINERS' FEBRUARY CAMP REPORT

Recommended Posts

Monday, February 27, 2006. The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps would like to thank Eric Sabach and Steve Wands for an exciting weekend clinic! Eric ran two Visual Clinics each day, and took everyone to the next level in preparation for what will no doubt be a challenging, high-energy and entertaining Visual package.

Steve Wand’s breathing and brass techniques have taken the Skyliner horn line by fire storm since the Open House, and this weekend he took all Clinic participants through the program. The positives and excitement about this program could be heard throughout the weekend. The Skyliners are looking for a few good baritone players, all they we ask is that you do play the horn already. The emphasis is on building the low end of the brass line.

Color Guard Designer and Caption Head John Veninger worked with the guard on Sunday, many of whom took time out from Winter Guard season to spin and toss with the Skyliners. High school students who are looking to get their feet wet in drum corps, spinning with Sky would be an excellent opportunity because we are willing to train our guard members. Look for John with Matawan's guard at shows this winter; stop by and say hi.

The Percussion line under the tutelage of Bobby Craig continues to grow and be a real strength. As we head into Spring, the Skyliners are looking for one more snare drummer, a tenor player, and three (3) more front ensemble/pit players. The corps is using a range of Latin Percussion instruments, so if playing songs like "En Fuego" (On Fire) by Emmy® and Grammy® winning jazz artist Michel Camillo is your style of music, the Skyliners is the place you want to be this year!

The Skyliners’ next camp weekend is March 11 – 12, 2006, at Dover American Legion Post #27. Go to our website at http://www.newyorkskyliners.org for more information, contact Holly Marino at exiggy1@yahoo.com, or fill out a Skyliner interest form at http://www.newyorkskyliners.org/join.html.
