(CALL 321-536-7949) 2006 sees Heat Wave of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps entering our 14th year of existence; 9th full year as a competitive drum & bugle corps with Drum Corps Associates. Heat Wave was started in 1992 by a group of Drum Corps veterans and enthusiasts who felt it was time for the South and Florida to have a competitive All Age Drum & Bugle Corps. It was a hard up hill battle, but after parading, exhibiting, opening car dealerships and hospitals, Heat Wave hit the competition field in 1997 as the South's FIRST corps to compete at the DCA World Championships in Allentown, PA. Automatically becoming a crowd favorite, Heat Wave has gone on to be a Class A powerhouse in DCA, capturing the title in 1998 & 2003 and being a Class A finalist in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2003. Heat Wave is an "ALL AGE" group and membership, open to anyone age 16 and above; includes a mix of people from teens to elders, high school to college, and vocations as diverse as dentists, mechanics, homemakers, teachers, students and more. Some of our members have marched in other drum & bugle corps, high school or college marching bands, winter guards, winter drum lines and performance ensembles, but we also include those who have always wanted to perform with a musical group such as HEAT WAVE OF ORLANDO, but who never thought they had the time or talent -- ALL ages and talent levels are invited to participate. We do, however, request that anyone under 18 have parental or legal guardian approval before membership can be approved by the Corps Director. Being primarily a "weekend only" corps, also allows our members and staff to keep to their daily and weekly routines, such as family, work and school, without leaving for extended periods of time for travel and performances. This also allows us to keep our dues and fees as low as possible. All that is missing is YOU.
