  1. This weekends forecast: Great Drum Corps weather! Saturday is sunny with highs of 82, Sunday high 76, could have some thunderstorms. Come prepared to learn lots of drill, music, work AND have a great time!
  2. We have 2 soprano, 2 mellophone and 4 baritone spots left to fill for our goals (another Contra is always welcome). Come check things out...
  3. We welcomed 6 new members (Ashley, Sierra, John, Jamie, Bob and Ryan) and 1 new guard tech (Lauren) to our ranks this past weekend! Will you be next? (April 24 & 25, 2010 at Avoca Central School).
  4. The ensemble at rehearsals end was an adrenalin pumping closing to a GREAT weekend! The weather could not stop this determined corps and we managed to learn drill in spite of mother nature! The food was AMAZING, as always, with meatloaf, green bean and bacon mix, baked potato AND cake for Saturday's dinner. We meet next weekend (April 24-25, 2010) at the Avoca Central School so make your plans NOW!
  5. So...we have 2 soprano, 2 mellophone and 4 baritone spots left to fill for our goals. Come check things out tomorrow (April 18) at Avoca Central School from 9 am - 2 pm. Can't wait to see you...
  6. Our 1st outdoor rehearsal is finally here! We will be rehearsing in Avoca at the School. The address is 17-29 Oliver Street. It's very easy to find. We will be starting promptly at 2:30 on Saturday (April 17) and go until 9pm. Sunday (April 18) we will start again at 9am and finish the weekend at 2pm. We will be outside learning drill, so please come prepared for ALL kinds of weather! Bring sun screen, rain gear, sneakers, extra clothes and sneakers (incase it rains). No flip-flops on the drill field please! Also, BRING YOUR DOT BOOKS!! Food for the weekend is $11.00. Drum line, please go to the forum and print off the NEW warm-ups and bring them with you!
  7. From Leslie, WELCOME to the spring season in upstate New York! 1. The weather forecast for this weekend includes rain, possible snow, and chilly temperatures (highs in the 50's low's in the 30's) so PLEASE plan accordingly. Layers of clothing is best, it gives you the option of starting out warm, shedding/adding clothing as the temperature moves. A HAT is extremely important for the entire season as heat stroke is NOT our friend AND very dangerous! Bring at least three changes of socks and one two changes of shoes because wet/cold feet are NO fun! A newspaper can help with the process of overnight shoe drying. 2. BRING SUNSCREEN! This is the Southern Tier of New York and studies have shown we get less sun than Alaska, so ANY extended exposure to the sun may cause sunburn! Be safe and use sunscreen, even winter skiers use sunscreen when they hit the slopes so...BRING AND USE SUNSCREEN/BLOCK! See you all tomorrow ready to start at 2:30pm!
  8. If you are new to the White Sabers and plan on visiting us this weekend (APRIL 17 & 18) drop me an email (jvona@addisoncsd.org) so we can plan our menu accordingly, Leslie will be very unhappy if anyone walks away hungry!
  9. With added economically charged "shock" posts appearing on DCP here is a chance for the "upstate New Yorkers" to continue smiling! Empire AND White Sabers are still having camps and planning a full summer of competition! To the doubting Thomas's competition, whether in Open or A class, is still better than "time off" (opinion-sounds like prison) AND a great way to stay in shape! (YES round is a shape, but not a good one for marching drum corps.) So, if you are like me, and need that competitive drive to keep you in shape then by all means come check out the White Sabers! We are more than happy to invite you into our family until your corps is back on the field in competition! Who knows maybe we will learn something from each other AND regain the "upstate New York" dominance. (MY tongue is FIRMLY planted in my cheek-if you can't laugh at yourself than others will laugh AT YOU!)
  10. It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce to you that Dave Kimak is the new Percussion Caption Head of the White Sabers! Dave has been involved with the performing arts since 1994 and has been an educator in the Syracuse and Utica areas for the past 10 years teaching various marching band percussion lines and indoor winter ensembles. Dave has also performed with various marching bands, drum corps and indoor percussion ensembles including: The Baldwinsville Percussion Ensemble (1995 WGI World Champion), The Patriots Percussion Ensemble (1999 WGI Silver Medalist), and the Kingston Grenadiers Drum and Bugle Corps (2004 DCA A-Class Champion/ High Percussion Award). Everyone please join me in welcoming Dave to the Corps! Leslie
  11. HAPPY EASTER to all of the fellow drum corps "nuts"! Hope to see some of you in two weeks, now is a good time to be making those plans to check WS out.
