I haven't had the privlege of marching for 10 years. I've been trying to "get over" my addiction to drum corps. IT DIDNT WORK. I'm presently marching in the RAVENS (yeah, the football team) band to get my chops and my back in shape to march this summer.
If you had the kind of experience I HAD in drum corps, you'd never want to leave the activity either.
THANK GOD FOR ALL-AGE Drum Corps. See you on the 19th of October at the SOUNDS OF PHILADELPHIA OPEN HOUSE!!!!

Wow, lots of military service represented in drum corps. I'm not surprised, considering our AL (American legion) and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) heritage.
I have the distinct privlege of being "Military" without being put in Harms way... My service to the country was STRICTLY musical in nature, as I was a member of the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. If they're sending the drum corps to war, WE'VE ALREADY LOST!!! I am PROUD to have served in our nations military, even though it wasn't in DEFENSE, but in CELEBRATION of our great nation.
THANK YOU to all those who put themselves in harms way, so MY unit can serenade them with American music...

-

SEE YOUSE TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!

I'm looking forward to going to the open house. I hope all those people who "still have the itch" will come out too. I think this could be fun and cool. Hope to see a bunch of folks out there!!

In the 70's there was a dance called the

This could be fun...a NEW all age corps on the East coast. IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!
-
I had the pleasure of seeing that 86 show about 10 times that year. I still think it's one of their better shows.
I am NOT a Cadets fan, but I respect their willingness to TRY NEW STUFF.....EVEN IF IT DOESN'T WORK. They truly live by the addage " You cant make an omlet without breaking some eggs". If you haven't seen this show, WATCH IT. It may not stand up to 2008 standards, but remember it was 1986. They were GOING FOR IT!!!!!
Takes a lot of guts to win 3 in a row, then TRY SOMETHING NEW!!!!
-
I just might have to come out to this one...It's not THAT far from the homestead...
-
The 2 years I marched we were (jokingly) from I-95 or THE NORTHEAST CORRIDOR. Sometimes, we were from OVER THERE!!!
-
Hey! My drumline (The Marching Elite) has some of the bleacher stands for tenor drums. They are very awesome!!!! Check this stuff out!!!!!!
-
I hear ya BONES!!!!
-
The marching band I teach has been using Dynasty for some time now.. We've FINALLY gotten a pleasurable sound out of the snares...the tenors are "ALL RIGHT" and the bass drums are passable. I hope other lines have better luck with those drums than I have!!!!
-
Is there any word on their cymbal tech search???
-
If the SUNRISERS can bring a KITCHEN SINK (1987) out on the field, WHY NOT A TYPEWRITER???
-
I think it can work indoors...outside? A WHOLE NOTHER subject. The drum looks like it would be a KILLER toy right now.
What if the pit were in the middle/back of the field?!?!?!? I can see a benefit for small OPEN CLASS CORPS (DECREASE THE FIELD SIZE, amplified electronic percussion)
Of course, the units that would benefit from this technology, CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!!
I need to know more before I REALLY pass judgement on it.
I remember when people said a SECOND VALVE was crazy!!!!
-
Typewriters now but can someone tell me when SCV used one of these...
It had to be the same year they used LEGOS!!!!
-
Now noone whos an old "Bones" will respond to this thread.
Thank you for saying what I WON'T
