I’m not offended or angry. I’m just tired of being blamed for all of society’s ills, primarily due to the numbers on my birth certificate.
Should have worked harder to prevent Reagan from being elected, IMO.

I apologize if you took offense to my choice of words. I strictly used the word leftist to indicate a specific viewpoint. Sorry.
If you actually used the word "leftist" correctly, then maybe this would wash. Nothing about "inclusion" is leftist.

In sum, being inclusive is not the Cadets problem. It’s a feature, not a bug.
The problem is a bad design and no real organizational direction, for years now.- 5

Please don’t throw all boomers under the same blanket. Thank you.
I didn’t. It’s “baby boomer tripe,” because it’s exceptionalism largely, but not universally exhibited by many baby boomers and the next mini-generation that follows.
“Social justice” matters to kids and no one should make them feel bad for it. Life is hard but it doesn’t also have to be mean.- 3

These kids have ten times more talent than we did as kids and they work ten times as hard. Deriding them as “soft” is insulting and gross.

This is the world now and its a darn shame. Same thing is going on in colleges and universities. Its sickening. These SJW's want a world full of over sensitive safe space softies who cant handle failure, losing, adversity or criticism. Not my 3 kids though.
Omg get this baby boomer tripe out of here. Everybody else is horrible, but not my kids! No sir, not mine!

No doubt they are not in the top medalist tier, and they have not been for a few years.
However, to think they are falling off the edge of the earth, as seems to be the case being made by some here, is just, IMO, not true. The rise of a bunch of corps has made the area the Cadets are in very crowded, but it doesn't mean that they are falling...give the others credit.
IDK, man. Usually I'm upbeat, but design- and talent-wise, we're playing checkers and everybody else is playing 5D chess. If we make it back, it's gonna take a very long time and a huge amount of money and energy.

I know the adults in charge want it to get better and QUICKLY - the corps is fully funded at the same level as the very top corps
This cannot possibly be true. Take a look at our electronics, and then take a look at Bluecoats' electronics. We're a kid in his bedroom with a Casio and a tape deck, and they are a Skrillex show.

Some of the best instructors and designers in the business are "Golden Age" Cadets and are working with other groups. Why is that? Because no one wanted to work for GH. GH is gone.
YEA needs to decide that it's time for these folks to come home. Staffs win championships. Our championships also created great staffs... for other corps.
Namely:
- Bluecoats' visual co-caption heads (yes, both)
- Bluecoats' brass caption head
- Vanguard's guard caption head
- Boston's brass arranger
- Boston's artistic director
- Boston's drill designer
- (About half of the rest of Boston's staff)
- Crown's drill designer
- Crown's brass arranger
- Crown's percussion ensemble coordinator
- (About half of Crown's visual staff)
- Phantom's brass caption head
- Etc, etc.

Also any DCI Vets, can you remember the name field on tour somewhere in Tennessee that the Field was so curved that you could not see the front sideline from the back hash because there was a hill in the middle of the field?
Sevierville, Tennessee.
I am just dropping in here to say that I *love* this show and I think they'll pass BD.
The slow, no-synth part near the end of the show is the effect of the summer, IMO. The horns are just going for it, with no electronic support and they are nailing it.

We were outscored in brass by the Mandarins.
Where do we go from here?

BD is going last. I'm waiting for BD to go undefeated the rest of the season and make everyone super sad
It definitely seems teed up for this.

You had one hell of a show. I spent so much time hating on the cadets back then because you were the enemy. Now that I'm older I can sit back and appreciate what you guys were doing and remember that I got into the activity because of the Cadets.
That being said, our angst towards you guys was really because of Hop. We absolutely hated him and the way he treated y'all. But Cadets members were some of the most classiest and respectful members I ever interacted with.
In my day, we’d have run through a brick wall for that guy on most days. He was for some of us the only father figure we had. Sad, yes, but I wouldn’t broadly say that he treated us poorly. We rehearsed a ton but we also needed to rehearse a ton because individually we weren’t exactly BD-level talent. IMO.

As I said to another poster, I'm not sure where you got your law degree, but you should ask for a refund.

Darcie is Dartmouth.. She is responsible for the Theatrical elements and design in Darmouth PSW's line for as long as Tom has been there.. Immense Talent, always unique and fresh.. YOu need only look at Darthmouth to be satisfied that she has some ideas and can execute them if given the right team.
Soooo... why this disaster of a show, if she has such amazing design talent?

however only part of the evidence has been presented. We have no records of what YEA actually did or did not do.
Sure, but there was no reason to engage with her directly. None. Bad mistake.

Whatever the facts, YEA never in a million years should have engaged with the author directly. A huge misstep. All they ended up doing is created evidence.

With all due respect, even suggesting that going from 12th to 6th in one season is merely, well anything, is disingenuous at best and does a huge disservice to the members and staff of the 2017 Boston Crusaders. The fact is that due to travel times and VERY early performance times that year (in many cases being the first WC corps on in some shows) BAC had very short rehearsal windows on tour. As a matter of fact there were at least a half dozen days on tour where the corps had to deal with only a 2 or 3 hour ensemble before it was time to ESL.
I don't think anyone is discounting the members of the Boston Crusaders. I mean merely to say that all things being equal, a finalist corps can move up into the middle tier with a great staff. The 2017 BAC proved that.
See also the 2002 Magic of Orlando, who went from not existing in 2001 to 10th place in World Class by hiring an A-list staff, many of whom teach the Boston Crusaders today.
The activity is design-driven to a fault, IMO. Those short days matter less with a great design and a great staff, until you start getting to the top tier, when those short days matter quite a lot.

Didn't Boston Crusaders also have to face early performing times the year they blasted from 12th Place to 6th?
I do believe it is something corps have to deal with when they want to rise in the rankings. But, Cadets situation isn't as bad as it would be if they were, say, the 12th Place corps last year.
Since so much of the sheet is based on how the show is designed, going from 12th --> 6th can be done merely with an all-star staff.
The difference between 6th and the top tier comes down to effective rehearsal time in many cases.
The Cadets used to thrive on rehearsing the most, simply because we had middle-of-the-road talent compared to BD. Now that we've fallen down a tier or two, we have to find a way to deal with less rehearsal and still excel. We aren't doing that yet. I hope we can get it turned around.
Hey __________, maybe do this. What is your advice for certain corps at this point?
