it said a reply might happen between 18/24 hours...did anyone else hear anything individually?

the tune is "Garryowen," [sic] and it has become Pioneer's signature "exit" as they've done it for years and will most likely continue to do it until they aren't allowed to any more...i do believe (not positive) that the rule states tap into field (actually now that i'm thinking about it, i think it's no longer a tap, i think it's only a clap), whatever off the field.

ahh, the wonders of cloning...imagine when the other corps catch on

Has anyone noticed that not only does INT have a drum corps, but they also have a marching band in the Fall and perform at WGI shows in the Winter?
INT is the Chuck Norris of the marching arts!

4'33" was written for INT...i think it was their original ballad

Well guys....it's been fun, but this is my last post on DCP. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, I pack up the truck and head to my new life in Athens, GA, where I will join the faculty there along with some fantastic colleagues that I am going to be very lucky to learn from. I was not surprised during the job search process to have folks on search committees tell me that they had run across some of my posts on DCP via google searches. Luckily, I've never really gone off the deep end here, but it was enough to put me on notice. Truly, everything we do these days is open to the world, and I can't take chances with my college teaching career at its very start.
as you mentioned, you should have gotten an alter-ego....i have 3 myself

tell ya what, i was a little surprised to see it even for PRfolks would be outraged by all the violence, throat slittings and slapping women arround! -
the only corps besides SCV to make finals every year
-
they just got a brand new complete line of kanstul custom 2 valve G's last year.....as someone pointed out to me: your tax dollars at work (ducks and covers)
-
i have a friend named bill going to finals (i know that's not what you meant)

Long Beach wasn't a regional. the only reason i made that list was to point out to the person i had quoted that the 35 shows that he was referencing didn't happen this year

love that sig....INT was phenomenal in Atlanta...good luck on their push for finals

i was just wondering about Steel Town this morning...but is the full name Bandettes Steel Town? i thought they changed to Steel Town to go co-ed
-
happened in '03, happened in '05...sucks but they've got to be used to it
-
well i believe a tick was .05 of a point, so 22 ticks would be 98.90....but even than bias was possible...could one "overlook" a tick? i'm sure it happened. i would like to point out there are a number of criteria on the judges sheet, both front and back, so it's not just a number picked completely out of the air...that being said, yes the judging system needs to be revised
-
what about the random draw? DCI mentioned the lineups for SA and Atlanta were grouped by averages from others, plus random draws in groups of three...does this seem likely for quarters as well?
-
remember, a new crew takes a little time...didn't they just get a new director recently? 92-96 they didn't score any higher than 5th...three years later and a share of the championship (which i still say should have been theirs outright)...they'll be ok

OK I did some math.
Here is the average of scores so far under the current format:
Academy: 75.725 (San Antonio) + 77.0 (Atlanta) = 152.725 / 2 (number of regionals attended) = 76.363
Pacific Crest: 75.1 (Long Beach) + 75.15 (San Antonio) + 77.2 (Atlanta) = 227.45 / 3 (number of regionals attended) = 75.817
Troopers: 73.25 (Denver) + 76.425 (San Antonio) + 76.425 (Atlanta) = 226.1 / 3 (number of regionals attended) = 75.367
So the final raking under this system are as follows have Academy above PC and Troopers because they stayed at home. Never ind the fact that Academy has NEVER beaten PC all season long. Never mind the fact that Academy has lost to troopers 4 times this season and beaten them once. This is a perfect example of how some corps can be rewarded by staying at home and not touring. PC and Troopers would have to both beat Academy by around 3 points in order to go on after them at quarter under this seeding format.
Q-finals seeding should be an average of san antonio, atlanta, & allentown. End of story.
i don't feel like doing math...does that still leave Pio as first on?

However, they are plagued by the bad show design that the staff gave them this year.
i would wonder if instead of it being a bad design, is it too much for the corps? i don't mean they can't perform it, but one of the great things about Academy is how they have taken baby steps in the corps' development to ensure a quality product and organization...but maybe they tried to make a leap when they should have just stepped it up a notch or two?

If I were to redefine things, I'd call Denver/Orlando/Stanford/Madison etc. "Regionals" and SA/Atlanta/Allentown "Major Events". One is regional, the other is part of the official Finals tour.
well what are the regions? i mean there is DCI-Pacific, DCI-Midwest, DCI-East (i think) and is there a DCI-South? if so...designate one show in each region as the regional and just name it the DCI (region) Regional...that takes away any questions...and yes all the others are major events, so as an example, Denver, Madison, Allentown, Atlanta....or so.

It would make better sense if it was determined and announced BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED, or even before corps schedules are set. That way everyone gets fair warning. This year's seeding method is still up in the air as far as we can tell. Why?
I think more scores need to be factored in, not just 3-4. Starting from a first all-corps regional in early July, all scores get averaged with a minimum requirement of, say, 10 shows. (I don't know if that's undershooting or overshooting, so that number could adjust accordingly.) If a corps goes over the minimum by at least 3 shows, they get to drop their two lowest scores.
I also think the regional in San Antonio should be shifted to Denver so that all the all-corps shows are in an outdoor venue. (and trust me, as a resident of Austin I enjoy being able to drive a mere 90 miles to San An to see every world class corps, but I'd rather the activity not use an indoor field as a major scoring/seeding venue!!!)
again, i'm pretty sure (no evidence, just an assumption) that the corps know ahead of time things like this...there is an entire section of the dci website that has tons of info just for the corps' that we never hear about. i would agree that you take the average of the all-corps regionals, though i think adding additional shows and possibly dropping numbers might be too much.
-
well i guess then i'll ask why are Denver/Orlando regionals? are they? Stanford was the DCI West Championships...isn't that a region?
again this is all a great point...i'm just asking for definitions....i want DCI to define the following: full-tour, regional...until that's done, there will always be issues
Final predictions...

i believe his real name used to be in a signature, plus a link to a website...i know that colleges have looked at facebook (and similar sites) as well while "investigating" candidates so if you're wanting to teach at any level...get two of everything!
