One does not have to look far on here to see threats of manipulation of the vote made RIGHT on this forum.
I applaud voiding this vote. It was tainted in many ways.
-
Judy Jetson of course! :) I will turn around and wave!

I'm ten rows lower than you in the same section. Yell down at the cutest teenager in cartoons.
:P

Good point. You should see it higher then.
Have fun at the show!
I've been going to Indy since DCI came back to the town in 2000. As many times as I performed there, I feel I've gotten reasonably accustomed to the acoustics of the dome. If you stay out of the nosebleeds then you'll be fine. Besides, since this is the one show I see each year, I like being able to see the drill live. -
first of all, thank you Orphanim.
Maedhros, hmm, well I think you may have been better off getting lower seats. I requested them this time. I'm in 114 section. The reverbe up north is a little distracting.
In any case have fun at the show. I know I will!

True. But charters can be changed yes?
In addition adding a DCA class of competition to DCI might alleviate some of the increase-the-age-limit suggestions that crop up. Most of the members of a top-12 DCI corps are not exactly "youths" at ages 20 and 21 and most of the members of the top DCA corps are barely over 30. This is based on my observations so the data is not exactly scientific and I will admit that. But the line between the two ages is not exactly razor-sharp.
Never say never.
I'd definitely say never. I am pretty sure that DCI is not at all interested in getting into the "senior/all-age/alumni" corps business.
In fact, I think they have the attitude that "they aren't going away" so they have to follow our rules when they are invited to perform in DCI's shows.

Why not? DCM did this summer.
Maybe we can add a few bandsin there......

Awh shucks Judy.....So.Mil is only a standstill....not worth the $475.00 roundtrip for that...
4X attendance is an exaggeration too babes, DCI only averages around 15k-20k, but they do charge 2X more for tickets....lol
Muz.... B)
and the baseball thingy?.....I like the beers and dogs between corps.......
I guess you weren't at Denver last year. I was.
And I expect Boston will be a large audience too.
I don't know the exact attendance numbers for either championships.
It was just a guess, "babe".

It sounds as if you are "labelling" parents in general.
I guess what is good for the "labelling" goose is not good for the "labelling" gander.
Give me some time, I will find those three, I guarantee you...It is the kids and YES the adults are guilty so that's why I asked, what the ADULTS are TEACHING the kids today. It is both off them and I'm still sick of it. <**> -
I hear a solo trumpet glissing up, immediately followed by a shrill, high-pitched whistle from the stands. I don't hear anything being played unmusically.
Aw, c'mon. You're ruining their chance to bag on this guy. And be as mean as they can be behind a computer screen.
God, you people are brutal.

Just have to say that Blue Stars freakin rocked the show last night. Never heard the corps sound so full and well controlled in their sound. Last year's was very good but this show can compete with the big boys this year. Best wishes through the rest of the season.
Do you know what the scores were last evening?

DCI has at least four times at their championships alone as many spectators as DCA. We don't even want to start on the individual show venues and regionals.
DCI is held in a football stadium. For some reason, DCA can only find baseball fields to hold their championships at. At least since '99 when it was held at J.Birney Crum stadium in Allentown.
I don't like watching drum corps at baseball fields. Count me out.
Hey muzzicman, why aren't you in So. Mil? I thought RA was performing there tonight?
-
What about '99 Scouts at Camp Randall? I thought that was the loudest response I've ever heard.

I am 100% positive - it was 1986. My two "Steves" were waiting to show off for me. Blue Devil snares Steve Campbell and Steve Gosselin - I taught both in 27th and was in Gosselin's wedding. Unfortunately - the field was a mess and the helicopter was used before the start of finals to help dry it out. Every corps did a standstill instead.
I know it happened in '84. Maybe it happened in '86 too.
But I am POSITIVE I was not at Allentown in '86.
-
Are you sure '84 was the helicopter year? I have pictues from '86 prelims that have people holding up umbrellas as well as wearing rain coats. I'm trying to locate the picture I took of that helicopter.....I'm almost positive it was 1986.
I was not around drum corps in '86. I had a one year old child.
I was at Allentown in '84. Helicopters buzzed the field.
I was NOT at Allentown in '86 at all.
-
As mentioned, it was Whitewater finals in 1984 when it happened. I am not sure who caused the pile up, but the guy who was hurt the worst was a 16 year old soprano named Kevin Cook. He was on crutches for a few days, missed some shows with a bad sprain, but was able to return a short time later.
The first z-pull was in 1983.
It looked like somebody stopped four counts early and **&*(*^((*(*^( boom.
at least it looked that way from my birdseye view at Warhawk Stadium.
-
There was no rain at Whitewater in '84. Saw the pile-up.
Allentown '84 was when they had to fly helicopters over the field to dry it out. I don't know about '86 (wasn't there) but '84 I am sure about.
