  1. 1996 was their last show...but I don't know why they folded...possibly not getting into finals for 4 consecutive years...but that doesn't sound like a good enough reason.
  2. I would have joined VK if they still existed and were the same VK from the past. I loved their 1988 and 1992 shows just because they were so entertaining and always make me laugh. Converse shoes were awesome and the Uniforms were weird...but that's why I liked them; they were different.
  3. I had to wait until 2AM till I got to see last year's program on PBS...and the year before I was up at 5:30AM waiting to watch it (too early for me) ....I hate PBS...
  4. I hate trumpet players who think they are Manard Ferguson in his prime....cause 99% of the time they suck.
  5. Its not what you play that the judges look for...it's how you play it. I wish it was a little different though so you didn't have Star of Indiana placing 2nd in 1993 (That show was played very well...but the music made absolutely no sense and the crowd seemed confused by the show because they didn't know what what was going on 99% or the time)
  6. 1.Cavaliers 2.Blue Devils 3.Cadets 4.Phantom Regiment 5.Madison Scouts 6.Bluecoats 7.Carolina Crown 8.Boston Crusaders 9.Blue Knights 10. SCV (Might even fall to 11th) 11.Glassmen 12.Spirit JSU
  7. This was my first LIVE DCI event...and I can tell you that I thought I was hyping the experience...but the show BLEW ME AWAY! Memphis Sound - Ok....this was the first corps I ever heard live...and the warmup gave me goosebumps. I thought their show was solid. I didn't really have anything to gripe about other than the fact that the male colorguard's uniform didn't quite match the women's... Kiwanis Kavaliers - I didn't read what the show was about...but the opener was easy for me to recognize....it was the theme from "The Incredibles". I wanted to play that for high school marching band...but I don't think that's going to happen. Anyway....There was a severe lack of trumpets on the field (I think I counted 4 or 5...which was countered by 5 tubas). There show was fun and I appreciated it.' Colts - I have heard a lot of ramblings of the Colts making it to Finals this year...and I hope they make it! There were some moments in the colorguard that just made me Oooooo and Ahhhh during the show...and my sister and my dad also agreed. I really hope they make it to finals this year Capital Regiment - I think the sundial needs to be fixed a bit. It seems like some of the cloth is coming off and it could be fixed with staples. The sundial in the show is pretty big and can be distracting at times...but the corp also does some nice things around it. My dad didn't understand the show and thought it was a shark fin...but he said he would of given them first if they knocked down 8 people with it. I thought that the hornline wasn't as developed as the Colts, but they did a good job INTERMISSION Madison Scouts- HOLY CRAP! I thought I was overhyping my excitement for the show...but it EXCEEDED my expectations! The hornline was LOUD, but very well balanced. The Carmen Project is officially my favorite show ever. My dad thought the show was too violent with the knives and chains and stuff like that...but he didn't know the show was based of the opera, Carmen. Once I told him that he understood. I did not see Carmen enter the field...but I'm pretty confident that she is hiding behind a black backdrop that they set up at the back of the field. Percussion was OUTSTANDING, and I thought they should have won that HANDS-DOWN! The sirens and the whistles add so much excitement to the show. I did sense a bit of Malaguena in the show...but it went by so quickly that I hardly noticed. The Colorguard does need a bit of work still. There were 2 consecutive rifle drops that made me cringe and the flag work wasn't as precise as I would have hoped...but the guard has a VERY tough drill (Harder than the Cavies drill). I loved the separation of the guard into a blue and green group. Combined with the visual package...this added a TON of tension and excitement to the show. I loved the "modernized" arrangement on the second piece where Carmen comes in. The ending didn't really grab me...but I think it was just because I wanted MORE. This show is FULL of energy and I was in awe the whole time. If Madison can clean this show up...this has the ability to be another Championship title. I can not see these guys straying below 4th..and can easily see them coming in 2nd or 3rd at Finals. Go see this show! Cavaliers- I was hoping that I would see Madison beat them...but as soon as they started the show..I knew that wasn't going to happen. The horn weren't as loud..but they were clean. The guard was cleaner than Madison...but I thought the routine was a little easier. The opener wasn't my favorite...but the baseball section of the show was fun to watch and was a great crowd pleasing moment. The ladders that they use on the field actually reminded me of a dream I had where one of my marching positions was on top of a telephone pole in the middle of a football field =). The front ensemble was clean..but the battery had some cleaning up to do...as there were a few hiccups in the snares I picked up. This was a very clean show...but I still thought about Madison's show afterwards. Bluecoats- After seeing that they were going to have a week to rehearse, I was scared that the Scouts might get 3rd...which I thought could happen. The show started pretty down-to-earth...which I didn't really like (I'm all for the "sneak in" openers). The show was entertaining and is my second favorite Bluecoats show (I liked last year's show on DVD more). There seemed to be some trouble with the Baritone soloist...I don't know if he got lost or something...but he also seemed to be worn out and was having trouble with some of his notes. There was also a problem in the hornline on some fast moving notes...it seemed like they couldn't keep up with the tempo. Afterwards I still thought they were going to be close with Madison. Waiting for the Scores: My predictions: 1st-Cavies, 2nd-Madison, 3rd-Bluecoats, 4th-Colts, 5th-Capital Reg., 6th-Kiwanis (turns out that I was right) Dad's predictions: 1st-Colts, 2nd-Cavaliers, 3rd-Madison, 4th-Blue, 5th-Kiwanis, 6th-Capital Reg. (My dad isn't that experienced with DCI...and he hated the sundial and he liked the Colts guard) Sis's predictions: 1st-Cavies, 2nd- Bluecoats, 3rd-Madison, 4th-Colts, 5th-Capital Reg., 6th-Kiwanis (She had a dream that Madison came in 3rd...so she stuck to it) I also thought that the Cavies would win all captions EXCEPT percussion. turns out I was wrong on that...but I thought the Scouts had it in the bag........
