Entertaining thread. Typical for dcp.
What's next? Phantom should jump to first with an average show?
-
Karl, do you have more insight into the first step? I'm confused on why the weight isn't equal between both feet on step one. This wasn't the picture I was looking for, but last year or the year before they had a camp video of the corps taking step one and none of the weight shifted. It stayed completely over the planted right leg.
Thanks
I haven't read further in the post, but this isn't a full step... merely an excercise that puts you where you need to be to initiate the firs step.
on a full weight transfer you would see the knees together and the back heel start to come up (or as you put it the 'weight transfer')
-
It's all in the knees!

we had that exploding chicken once a week it seemed.... (some sort of frozen chicken kiev that the insides would get nuclear molten and they were somehow pressurized)
I always remember the Magic kids cruising by our food truck looking for food.. word on the street they had a few rough summers.
-
I always thought that what ever year you happened to march in the Scouts was the year of the Superman suits.
Our uniforms were even referred to as Superman suits WAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day when I marched.
I always just thought a "superman" type uniform was the kind that opens/zips/velcros in the front. That way when you take it off, you reveal the S on your chest...
I'm pretty sure they even called the uniforms we had at Cavaliers that opened in the front "Superman suits"
maybe i'm wrong about this, any Cavaliers from the late 90s remember??

"Best Tone & Musicality":
1962: Madison Scouts
1963: Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights.
1965: Chicago Royal Airs
1970-1973: Argonne Rebels

Hmm... rotor/valve corps don't compare to the tools the performers have today.
Also - for 4 years the Argonne Rebels had the"Best Tone & Musicality"? Seriously? Have you listened to anything in the last 5 years?
-
apart from being very young... they have a lady marching center....
can't believe that hasn't been mentioned yet.
-
Not if everyone else is off by an few inches.
You hang them out to dry. by the second time the staff lays into them, they won't miss it again. Personal accountability is everything.
Ever notice how dirty the Cavaliers are at the beginning of the season as opposed to the end?
-
Politics in a Cavie thread. Where do you people come up with that crap, you must listen to that druggie Limbo.
nope... and neither do I listen to that Commie Amy Goodman. I can't stand the "mouthbreathers" on either side of the spectrum.
thanks for playing.

The Cadets march and play much more than the Cavaliers do by the way.
based on what? your perception?

<**> to this thread.

Why are Republicans so afraid of Al Gore?
Why does Gore's home in 26 days consume as much energy as the average home in ONE YEAR?
-
I think I'll add one more.
They use the dot system, which works incredibly well to basically perfect the type of visual program they use.
I'll agree with that... the dot system works extremely well with the system.

To be honest, none of the music really is that great. Of course, what can you expect from a Saucedo piece except to put you to sleep.
What is your problem with the Cavaliers? Did you get cut from the line or something?
-
double post
-
This trash wasn't funny yesterday... nor did it express any other point than you are a fool.
-
I take it that The Cadets band will beat out the Cavaliers band yes? I'm on the edge of my seat. There's nothing like a summer night of Bb instrumented bands playing and marching at an extreme level of control. How very exciting. <wink>
Oh the days when whole crowds would...
please.

The "random selection" process for finals performance order in 1988.
Oh, you meant performance gaffes? :P
it was written that way in the style of the piece.... thats why the guard members were "dutting" too, you know
-
There's no way they can touch Phantom. But I'm sure Regiment will give them a wave as they're passing the Cavaliers.
Incredible logic....
at the last head to head meeting:
Bluecoats were exactly 2 points behind Rockford... and Rockford was over 3 down from The Cavaliers....
now Phantom can't be touched by Bloo, but Phantom will pass The Cavaliers?
DCP mentality... i love it.
-
No offense but even tho the Bluecoats have really made a good impression they aren't close to Phantom or anyone else at the top!
and I don't think they will beat the Bluedevils!
You're right... Bluecoats aren't close to the Devils... and neither is Phantom close to the Cavaliers....
way different levels.
-
FINALLY!!! AHHH it FEELS SOOOO good to have somebody else at the top!!!! No offense to the Cavies, but it was getting kinda boring up there, IMO. Nice job Cadets, keep at the good work!!! Way to increase the gap! :P
Another example.... maybe you can order one of those buttons from the other yahoo.
"anybody but corps x"
If the cadets are better, then they deserve to be there, bottom line... but don't say "dang it's about time"...
I would dare you to go up to any member of "corps x" and say they don't deserve to be there.... because YOU thought it was "boring".
Do you know what these kids DO all summer? Maybe you should try it once.
-
I would not overlook the fact that many are killing themselves for the design staff that wrote the esoteric shows and the judges that reward them for doing so. If it WAS just about the fans' entertainment, I believe you'd see less negative remarks.
I find more entertainment by the demand and skill it takes to do what some corps do.
What do you want? company fronts and "battle hymn"?

You know, your point would come across just fine without the name-calling. I promise.
Secondly, do you hate the comment, or that the comment was made about your Cavies?
I hate when people (especially those whose only connection to the activity are PBS and a few downloaded MP3s) are so critical of 135 young men (or men and women) who are out there KILLING THEMSELVES all summer long for YOUR ENTERTAINMENT.
In these cases you aren't building... you aren't cheering for corps... you are SO negative - all you want is one of them to lose.
THAT IS PATHETIC

Crown has an incredible pool from which to draw talent & financial support, Southwind simply did not.
