I remember seeing a video of an all-girl bass drum line for SCV winter drum line. I think there is even an interview where they talk about how proud they are to be an all girl line and hope to show ofther young ladies that they can do this.

Note: the following message is meant to be “tongue in cheek”
Yes, of course we need a snazzy name for each show. Otherwise, how will the audience know what it is that they’re watching. They may not know that what they are watching is the artistic expression of an esoteric idea that the design staff slaved over for hours and hours, and therefore may not recognize the design staff’s true genius.

wouldnt posting it just bring it back to the top for people to talk about it more?
Yes, there might still be some life left in this horse.

Well, I think we can now put this thread to rest. Nice job Cavies.

Madison Scouts scores :
July 13th : 79.300
July 14th : 77.750
July 16th : 77.600
Jeeez, at this rate are the DCI judges taking them to a point that they'll hit 65 by Indy ? What the H ?
The Scouts were putting some changes at their Sunday rehearsal. It's not surprising to see a dip in GE until those changes get cleaned. Once cleaned, they will have a nice impact on the show. Let's asee how things look in a fews days, that will be a better barometer of how it is going. It was nice to see the percussion score back up. I really love the book this year and the men are playing it very well.

Is it possible that DCI couldn't get the sync-rights for "the".

Maybe someone trademaked the word "the" and they don't want ton pay royalties for using it.

I think that happend with a few corps. I remember thinking to myself "where's the 'the' on Saturday.

The [fill in name of a corps] presents their 1968 show, "Music from the Western World System of Tonality."
Does that include 12 tone?

I'm also not a fan of the pre-recorded stuff. I have yet to see where it actually adds something of value to a show.

scores, smores........whatever.
Looks like a bunch of butts up off seats to me....
Agreed! It was a wonderful show. I talked to some of the young men at rehearsal on Sunday and they were still jazzed about the crowd response. They felt very good about the show, as they should.

That thread is too long to check out. I'll just assume that it is a few DCP members, which adds up to not a very large number in the real world.

In no particular order:
SCV
Scouts
Bloo
Boston

One thing for sure, if Cavaliers and Boston beat the Scouts in San Antonio, Scout fans can not whine about the performance order being the culprit.
Who's whining?

I predict eventually, this thread heads south...

I think there are many times laughing during a performance is valid. (VK & Bridgemen come to mind)
"Stop! You have the right to remain silent"

Saw their show in BG for the second time live and even with all the changes (more to come for Saturday) it was still horrible. The opener is downright laughable at this point from a design standpoint. I honestly laughed really loud at their big impact and everyone around me was doing the same thing. Sad part is I don't think it is meant to be laughed at. Cavies will make finals, I don't necessarily want them to, but they will. I will be shocked if they place higher than 10th though.
I take it you never actually marched in a drum corps then.

The year Boston did Bolero.
I think that show was called 'Red". One of my favorite shows EVER!

Agreed. I watched them on some vids and they really can play. I can't wait to see them live in Minneapolis tomorrow!

It's amazing to me as to how many "Madison haters" there are out there!! What's also amazing is when the corps starts to make a turn around, which has been long over due, so many people seemed shocked and for lack of a better word, appalled. Maybe it's me and I tend to look at things through "Scout colored glasses." Anyone else objectively feel that way?
I guess I would have to disagree. I haven’t detected very much “hating” on the Scouts. Instead, I see some frustration in some people because of where their favorite corps is scoring vs. their expectations. Indeed, I have seen many people on DCP expressing happiness that the Scouts are placing a bit better than they have the last few years.
There is no reason to hate on any corps. Drum Corps people are, by and large, very cool, very supportive people. We are all part of a pretty cool niche activity in the grand scheme of things, and because of that, drum corps people are very supportive and appreciative of each other in my experience.

I had a chance to watch their rehearsal last Sunday at Osseo High School. I really like the positive approach that Lee Beddis and his staff have with this line. They are a great group of young men. I am very impressed with how respectful they are with regard to instructors, alumni, and the Scouts traditions.
