  1. As we all know there is a lot of factors in recruitment. I feel that show design effects older more seasoned people then it does kids who just dont know any better and think the activity can be fun. I feel that choosing the right show will make or break you. If you throw something together without a whole concept in mind then I believe you will lose people. However, all this being said I will say that some shows have more of a draw then others. For example if your a huge West Side Story fan and a group is doing West Side, then you might be drawn because it is a show you have always wanted to do. Or on the opposite, if you are in a group that makes a show choice like Jazz but you really hate playing jazz, you are more likely to say hey maybe I will take the summer off. So in relation to does it effect recruitment, yes, but it is not the only factor.

  2. Look, enough about "our old man," and "your old man!" Honestly, I don't know when I've had as consistently great a time as I've had this year with Cru Tubas. That said, Fusion, you were the icing on the cake. I can't think of another musical event, hell, I can't think of another sporting event where one contestant will collectively go out of it's way to wait and cheer on a competitor. You went a long way toward letting those around you know that drum corps is a lot more than a final score. Best wishes for 2009 Fusion.

First let me start by saying using phrases like I don't know when your trying to convince people your not old is probably not a good angle.

The bond between Cru and Fusion is something that truly shows why Drum Corps is such a special activity. I think membership in both organizations will always have that lasting moment. The best to Fusion in 2009 looking forward to many summers carrying on our friendship.

Our banquet was a great time. I really do love my Crusaders family!

The open house on sunday was GREAT. So far i'm a big fan of the book, it has a some great tuba parts, and great parts all around. Mr. Prime has yet again produced an amazing book!

As you can see, this year's tuba section will NOT disappoint!!

This year we are seeing improvement in all aspects of the Crusaders! I for one am very happy to be a part of this organization!

btw... did I mention holy 8 freak'n tuba's in November batman!??

As everyone that reads these can tell Crusaders had an awsome weekend. As a member of the Tuba line all I can say is this year is going to be awsome. I am stoked that we had 8 as well. Of course can you ever really have to many tubas on the field? The Banquet was incredible. However, The banquet got me excited for the next day to see where we would be. If anyone is thinking of becoming a Crusader, don't wait come check us out. Even if your not sure come check us out. Our next camp is Jan 5 & 6. Founded in 1947, The Rochester Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps is a 501c3 non-profit musical, visual and educational organization that provides quality instruction that focuses on a musical and visual program that is both artistically and technically challenging. While being a competitive unit which travels all over the Northeast, we strive to bring the Rochester community closer to the unique activity of Drum and Bugle Corps which we perceive as an art form. The Crusaders also strive to keep the spirit of competition and the camaraderie throughout the Drum Corps community.

  9. I have alot of experience in letting go. After the 2000season I thought I was done for a while when I left for basic training. Then I returned in 2002. After the 2002 season I was out again for the 2003 season due to deployment. I managed to come back again for the 2004 and 2005 season, however, I know I wot be marching 2006 because of deployment. The worse part is I can't let go, any chance I have I march. It was the hardest while deployed and listening to MP3s of years past, hearing the crowd and knowing the corps was on the field while I at sweating in some sand/rock box. My only advise is cherish every moment you can, even when all you hear is doctor beat or the famous drum corps words "One more time."
