  1. Wow someone gained some bad karma for stealing a contrabass. Hope you find it. In case you do not, one of my fellow upstate pals said Brigs have a bunch of extra G horns. Maybe they can lend one. Best of luck to the Sunrisers. It was great to see that orange at Kingston.
  2. Welcome back!! :) Pardon my cynical, but very honest point of view: Perhaps it is because DCA is behind the times. Perhaps it is that a great, hardworking DCI corps member does not want to then go to DCA and be a peon working hard to only support a paid ringer who gets all the glory for standing in the pit for 90% of the show. DCI corps work very hard at every member contributing to the whole, this philosophy does not mean crap when the top DCA teams are judged how they are. In DCI the demand and its credit is member to member. In DCA who knows what it is? Maybe who has the nicest truck, or the skinnyest guard or the most money. It makes no sense. So, You've got that, then you have corps who play the same fricken music for 40 years. Come on. DCI corps are progressive (like it or not, not saying it is good or bad, don't go there PLEASE) and DCA tends to stand for Dont Change Anything. I am just being a devil's advocate here ( ^0^ ), trying to sport some thought... while sitting here wishing I was still in corps. These are not my opinions, only ideas. This old drummer really misses it.
  3. True, Joey is good. But just for argument's sake, where do we draw the line between corps member and "hired gun"? Can the guy march? I like the Statesmen and I like the Brigsdevils, but I am getting a bit tired of ringers being parked in the pit for the whole show. C'mon, let's get real. Seriously, It's about the whole, not about the stars. ALL MEMBERS OF A WINNING HORNLINE SHOULD HAVE TO MARCH. If not, we should just be a standstill activity. I am just sayin... for argument's sake. I trust your opinion Donny, you've been around more than just about anyone here. You mean they actually used to wear hats? b**bs I AM KIDDING. You bet. And they sure were great last year. Hands down the best. Clean and tasteful (even if the props did bleed, ewww) Sure they do. Just like the Brigs. Do a BD show and hire ringers. HA HA. Teasing again. B) You bet. They are a class act, no doubt. But a fun act to tease. I just love em so darn much.
  4. Relax Rumpy. Their props set the stage for their intriquing storytelling manor. It's ok if it is an ace card borrowed from marching bands. The great Empire Statesmen balance their story in extremes: from the huge prop in the background to the individual horn soloist in the pit. It is smart programming, it takes the responsibility and focus off of the majority of the ensemble. That is what you call PLAYING THE GAME. That's why they WIN.
  5. Dude, relax your hatless head! I dont think anyone was slamming Empire! (I said you guys had a great show) I love the "Statesman Style"! Seriously! (even if you do pay for ringers, but that's ok, Brigs do too... well maybe not this year...) b**bs b**bs b**bs b**bs b**bs I was just wondering what was up with our hometown hero, Joey! What an opportunity it was for him to get to share the stage with a musical genius like Mainard! I was saying it was great to see him in the pit this year! Empire will be great in Scranton, as aways. This year's show is a great next chapter after the success of last season. Go get em. Best of luck to all corps. I love this activity.
  6. Wow, I'd never expect so many excuses from a corps like Brigs!! :P Glad to hear your contras will be back. I was worried, I thought you guys were totally missing the low end that you used to have a few years ago. I hope you are able to fill your remaining holes and get the newbies trained up in time to be kick-butt in Scranton! Good luck!
  7. That's too bad. Empire's gain tho... Or maybe it is that he is now making MORE money as a hired gun in Empire!! ^0^ BTW, I forgot to mention originally, that it is GREAT to see CRU alive and kicking again!!
  8. Do you guys have some sort of a new "fundraising plan" going on? b**bs Ha ha. Great job too. You guys are LOUD.
  9. Kingston was my first DCA show this season. Needless to say, I was IMPRESSED!! Scranton is going to be a fight to the finish! Wow!!! Bravo DCA!!! But, I do have a couple of questions: 1.) Empire and Joey... Wasn't that Joey Pirro wailing away with Empire? I thought he was on the road with Maynard. What happened? Great show. (love the props, again!) 2.) Bush's female drum major... She is HOT! Wow! Who is she? (and can I get her number? Would this old drummer have a chance?) 3.) Brigs' holes... what's with all the holes? Drumline sounded great tho, as always. Other observations: I thought Cabs were great... I had been hearing "things", but you guys were great. Great drumline! Keep kicking -- no one can keep you guys down EVER! Sky!! What a technical show!! You performed well. Cabs Alumni!!!! Love that Jimmy Russo!! It's all about him! The "after show" festivities were great too. It was so cool to catch up with old friends again! I love drum corps!!
