  1. The problems with fielding French Horns are fairly straightforward: The horn is so sensitive, you have to be a nearly completely perfect marcher to pull it off.

In today's junior corps, it's probably all but impossible to field French Horns with today's high tempo whiplash drill. Which stinks, because the sound is SO BEAUTIFUL.

  2. I remember the wonderful sound produced by drum corps when the French horn was used.

Would you like to see it make a come back? thoughts..comments... and why did it disappear anyway?

The French Horn never disappeared........it's just laying low.

Aside from several parade and alumni corps, the Renegades AND So Cal Dream fielded french horns competitively in 2010.

  3. Is the next announcement a 25th anniversary show? a.k.a. "Flashback to 1986" ?

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!

If they did a 25th anniversary show of that theme, with "Sweet Georgia Brown", I'd probably lose my mind. LOVE THE 86 SHOW!

  4. I agree that I love drum corps, and I'm not going anywhere.

Having said that, I ain't towing the party line that everything is just fine and there's nothing to complain about. To those who are "leaving the activity": do as you feel you must, but you are effectively ABANDONING the activity that brought you so much, especially if you feel that something of the activity needs to be fixed, do you not feel an obligation to be part of that solution?

  5. ' ... farting in a trash can ...' Brilliant! While their show was not my favorite, they really did play it with conviction. I just hope this kind of show doesn't become 'the new normal' for the activity.

    Personally, I enjoy farting.

However, farting continuously into a metal trash can in excess of 9 minutes would drive ANYONE crazy!

  6. Not sure what to think about this new format.

I like the part where ANY corps gets to throw their hat in the ring for Quarterfinals, but I don't like the "one and done" approach to the Open Class "Finals", where most corps would look forward to doing two shows (semis and finals) now only get ONE show (unless of course they choose to throw in on World Quarters)

Then, SEPARATING I & E into separate open AND World divisions? Isn't part of the cool thing about I & E is a level playing field where a kid from the Podunk Pirates gets an opportunity to take out a Blue Devil?

    Well......................guess we'll see.
